Back to O +6
Other daily trackers:
Gallup 0 50 - M 42 (yday)

R2000 O 51 - M 41 (warning - Kos' poll, sample requires -3 pt adjustment imo)
Battleground O 46 - M48 (!?)
I wouldn’t compare this to 2000. In fact I wouldn’t compare it to any election. It’s unprecedented in that sex, age and race all play into it more than ever before. It seems that 2 of those factors namely age and sex bode well for McCain as women are more likely to vote for him because of Palin and older people who vote more reliably and more old school democrat may feel he is capable of more concern for their issues than a 47 year old.
And I have to believe that the Dems will like him for failing to fight for his election and falling on his "bipartisan" sword.
I don’t think Pelosi is that smart, she (and Obama) just got lucky.
Now the GOP completely owns every single panic or bank failure which happens in the next week or two. After all, they voted against the bailout.
Of course, everybody on Wall St is convinced the bailout is going to pass in some shape or form. But now the dems can batter McCain with all the bad economic news for as long as they want.
Watch it, they will try to get themselves 60 Senators out of it.
Can I get Davis’s and McCain’s email addresses? Also, do you know the McCain HQ phone number? Maybe we should post this in another thread so we can bombard them with calls and emails.
With right track/wrong track numbes in 10/80 range (down from 25/70), the party gap is probably rising fast.
After all, some of the new “wrong track” converts are disapponted R’s, and quite a few of them are going I or even D now.
Then the GOP owns the 277 rise in the Dow today, right?
And the GOP owns the rise in Consumer Confidence announced since they shot down the bailout bill, right?
I have those email addresses at home but I got them here at FR. Don’t know how valid they are but they didn’t bounce back. The contact number was posted in this thread toward the beginning I believe.
Wasn’t McCain down 8 points?
Now just 6 points!
What is happening that we don’t know about?
McCain needs to muster up some energy and fight the media bias and confront the partisan attacks from the Dems.
Otherwise, he’ll lose. Nice guys finish last.
yes, they do. But the rise is of course due to the fact, that the traders believe that bailout is still near certain, and correct for the yday panic.
The point is, Pelosi holds all the cards now. She can engineer another 10% drop in the Dow, if she feels like it, and that will get blamed on the GOP.
I hope she hasn’t got the nerves for that, though.

McCain has not made a solid, positive gain on Ras for over two weeks.
Pelosi is being played.
“This deal needs to get done.”
That’s where we diverge. Politically, McCain needs this bill to be done, like, yesterday, if not sooner. Politically, I’m a conservative, solidly against galloping socialism like this bill, so I don’t want a bill just to pull McCain’s ‘nads from the fire. He made this issue about him, which was a colossal blunder. HE can get it off the front page.
Instead of whining, how many have emailed or called the McCain campaign to let them know how disappointed they are in how the campaign is being run? If Congressional phones were jammed regarding the bail out, why can’t the same be done on this issue of not being clear enough with America? He said he would name names as President why not now?
Here is a curious thing that happened with a Quinnipiac polster that called on a coworker, another Freeper in fact.
Polster: Hi this is blank with Quinnipiac can I ask you a few questions...
So if you were to vote today who would you vote for the Republican John McCain or Barak Obama.
Coworker: I am not all that interested in voting this election
Polster: But if you were to decide to vote who would it be, would it be Barak Obama
Coworker: Like I said I have no opinion and have to run now
Polster: One more question, if you were leaning towards the positions of one candidate who would that be. Would you say you are more conservative in your politics like John McCain or more middle of the road like Barak Obama
Get my drift here, see the leading questions. I have heard similar stories by other people polled. Like used car salesman. And like has been chronicled here, most poll workers are college students or unemployed people which are BO demographic anyway
I agree that the McCain campaign needs to swing into high gear!
“But would Obama be in this position now without the media?”
No, of course not. If the American people really knew Obama they’d run screaming in the other direction. But they don’t know Obama and odds are they won’t. It’s up to the McCain campaign to tell voters who Obama is, and they haven’t done a very good job. Independent voters don’t listen to Rush and Hannity, nor do they spend time in the conservative blogosphere. They read USA Today and watch Katie and Letterman and The View. And that, in a nutshell, is why Obama could win this.
Wow, this country has really gone to hell in a handbasket.
