Defying their leaders who had caved, House Republicans managed to defeat the 700 Billion Dollar bailout bill.
The bill would have used US tax payers money to bail out not only US banks but foreign banks as well.

How embarrassing for Weller!
I tried to email my congressman, Mike Rogers. I am PISSED to the high heavens he voted for this stinking thing. I went outside and took down his damned signs out of my yard. I am sick of these stinking so called conservatives giving in to the Marxists!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am pissed, and ashamed of my so called conservative congressman.
Your bank account
Do your neighbors or family tell you what to do with YOUR money?
The exchange rate for the dollar is countercyclical and a big jump in favor of the Dollar means the market is forcasting a recession. Recession reduces demand for imports which strengthens the dollar. That in turn reduces demand for our exports because of the higher price from a stronger dollar.
There are many such findings in economics which are often the opposite of what would be expected.

I remember reading years ago that the banking system was headed for trouble because of check designs
The author said bankers are historically conservative type people and hen they started putting scenes, cartoon characters, on checks it was a sign their attitude had changed
Guy knew what he was talking about
Boehner voted for it. That surprised me!
Porter - NV 3rd voted yes! Berkely and Heller voted No!
Where was Rep. Weller? He better have a very good reason for not voting. What could have been more important than this?
Don’t you get it? NOW is not the time to address that.
No one is going to care about that when the economy craters
and they will be convinced it COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED.
Those voting “NO” are quite the conglomeration of Left and Right. Conyers, Jackson-Lee, John Lewis, Jessie Jackson Jr. all voted “No”.
Haste makes waste.
The bleeding continues.
Stock exchange closed, but stock still dropping, down 667 and falling.
All is not lost, what happened today proved it. Today, at least, it is still a government ‘of the people, by the people & for the people’. We picked up our phones and D.C. couldn’t ignore us.
It helped that they are all up for re-election this November.
A win is a win.
He was a little tied up at the moment (@ Barney Frank’s brothel).
Well, we can’t have a full no vote by Republicans. In other words, we can’t have a full no because the MSM will go balls to the wall against Republicans about the bill. But if you have some going for it, then that story is diminished. Add to the fact that Dems were against this and you can’t honestly lay the blame squarely on Republicans.
Unless Boehner is in front of cameras admonishing those who voted no, I say he’s playing this correctly.
This went down because it sucked, Pelosi poisoned the well by her partisan crap. End result, this goes down in flames. In fact, we needed Pelosi to go mental for this to happen and she probably thought that she could say what she wanted. No she can go to hell.
