The cable news networks are standing by for a press conference by House Republicans on the bailout bill. It should start some time after 6:30 p.m. EDT.
I noticed that too. They’re not going to be the #1 cable channel if they lose conservatives and are fighting with CNN, MSNBC for liberal viewers. I actually saw this change in FOX a couple of years ago. Murdoch is a Hillary friend.
Makes a hell of a lot of sense now though.
Thanks to John McCain, the Republicans have total control here.
The very fact that the Dems are frantically lying and pushing to get this POS passed fast should tell you everything you need to know.
I’m getting very tired of being personally attacked for trying to preserve free markets and liberty.
This bill needs to die. It’s pure socialism and once we do this, it opens the door for it to happen over and over again.
There is absolutely no evidence that Obama will win if we vote against this bill. The Democracts can pass this thing any time they want. If they feel the need to save the world and they are sure this will do it then they could have done it by now on their own. The Republicans get NOTHING from supporting this. If it succeeds (which it will not long term) the Dems simply claim all the credit and the media goes along with it. If it fails, the Dems say it was all Bush’s idea and McCain was in the bag to help push it though and the media supports them in that as well. The best possible outcome is for the Republicans to do the right thing and vote against the bill as a block.
IF THE DEMOCRATS WILL NOT PASS IT ON THEIR OWN THEN WE HAVE THE MEDIA AMMO TO COME BACK LATER AND ASK “WHY DIDN’T YOU?” Because they were too afraid of losing their own power to do the right thing?!?!? They can’t possibly use that excuse later. NO! It’s because this bill protects the ultra-powerful socialists that started this mess. The Dems only want us for body shields to put before the hungry wolves when the market finally falls. And it’s going to fall whether this passes or not.
After the market damage becomes impossible for the average joe to ignore, people will be looking for servants in Congress that they can trust. If Republicans vote for this bill, then they will be just as culpable as the Dems for the damage done.
Is this so hard to understand? The presidential election is a separate issue from this. This issue is about the ability to trust our entire party to EVER do the right thing.
I repeat my question:
If this bill is sure to make everything so grand, why aren’t the Dems taking advantage of the Republicans’ hesitation and passing this bill on their own? Are they just being charitable?
I mean, if they’re going to be able to take all the credit for all of the wonderfulness to follow, why not pass the bill?
With the possibility of having the Democrats and all leftist politicians from both major parties in control of everything important, it will also cause two things that are truly very bad to become a long-term reality: 1.) The Democrats will fully enact the Fairness Doctrine, which will forever kill off U.S. conservatism; and 2.) All leftists and all pro-amnesty politicians from both major political parties will fully enact all amnesty for illegal immigrant legislation, which will also help to kill U.S. conservatism as well as help create a socialistic third world country for the long-term and help kill off all U.S. capitalism! Illegals will also be allowed to legally vote in all future U.S. elections, and they will not vote in the majority for any conservative politicians at any levels! This would truly be the worse case scenario politically for conservatives and for conservatism at every political level, and I truly don’t see how U.S. conservatism could ever possibly recover after all of these things truly happened throughout the entire U.S.! It would truly be the end of the U.S. as a capitalistic country.

What on Earth are you talking about?
One, how is this “socialist” by any definition other than “any sort of governmental financial activity is socialist”?
Second, how do you propose to get a better bill out of an Obama Administration, which is what failing to pass this will bring on?
All R’s must vote no, let the dems own it. McCain needs to get on the RIGHT side of this, Bush is a lost cause.
FWIW, can't the bill be messed with right up to the time it's actually voted upon?
I don’t want to bailout anyone. But this bill bailsout Congress who caused this problem.
While you're all waiting, believe it or not, CNN just hammered Biden AND OBAMA for pushing for the Bridge to Nowhere and refusing Tom Coburn's plea to divert the money to Katrina relief.
They also noted at the end, .."....and this was BEFORE Sarah Palin was even Governor.
Economic instability has never been a trigger to major wars before? Well, that’s certainly news to me.
I don’t either, now that I’ve had time to do a document search.
That's very close to an old Bob Dylan lyric.
I expect we’re reading in the bill the reasons why the GOP meeting is taking so long..
More about the secret closed door meeting of the House of Representatives in March 13, 2008. There are several YouTube videos on the meeting, coming from C-Span footage. See for yourself.
