Now on Fox: Pelosi twisting arms to get Repubs on board bailout bill; much push-back. Pelosi will not let this pass without Repubs on board in case it blows-up and Repubs can pin it on Dems. Race to complete before Asian markets open. The Adventure Continues...

And that is the truth of the matter.

Except for the factor that many of the borrowers/lenders were illegal aliens. They came over here with nothing to loose and everything to gain at my expense.

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are semi gov’t. Is the FBI investigatng itself?

What laws have been specifically broken?

It's too early to tell the political fallout from all of this, but there is certainly potential for disaster--the public thinking it was all the Republicans' fault, and the Republican base being so disgusted with the "solution" that they stay home in large numbers on election day. I don't think there is any chance of the Democrats getting to 70 senators--I think there are 21 Republican-held Senate seats up for election, and the Republicans will probably lose at least a few. I'd say the worst-case scenario is losing about half of them--some are in heavily Republican states. But the magic number is 60--once the Democrats get to that number they can do just about anything they want, if they have the White House too.

Currently the Republicans have 49 Senate seats, so they'd have to lose all their seats that are up this election for the 'Rats to get to 70.

A little while ago Boehner and the Repub leaders came before the cameras. They looked like whipped dogs. The bill will pass with bipartisan support. Worse, Obama is getting all the credit while the Media Whores are laughing at McCain. Obama is now 10 points ahead of McCain according to quoted polls. Not a great night to be a patriot.

The pub version requires

There is no Pub version. The pubs folded on TV about an hour ago. Surreal.

Who cares if they get outsmarted as long as they can have the perks of being in congress. They are like the gutless non-entity republicans in congress in the 1970's.

The last I heard on the local news from my Democrat Representative David Obey is that he would NOT support the bailout. I don’t know if he has caved, but what you are saying about Mass. is true here in Northern Wisconsin, too.

People of all political stripes - Dem, Republican, etc... are all against this.

Here’s the truth:
The Dems have stated that they could pass this bill without Republican support. If this is true - why haven’t they done so already? The TRUTH is that they DON’T have the support of even their fellow Democrats (especially any that are looking to save their behinds for re-election this year, or in the future!)
