A side-by-side comparison is available here from Roy Blount's office and I'll just summarize the key missing points below (as I see them)

Why is this money not restricted to buying actual mortgages?

Why is this money not restricted to assisting American companies?

Ask your representative and push them to answer!

I think the Republicans ought to insist that the Democrats take responsibility for their part in this mess that goes all the way back to Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton and their maneuverings to keep the poor beholding to the Democratic party.

The world needs to know about the corruption of the earmarks in the United States — Republicans and Democrats alike.

Simple truth is — you can’t spend money you don’t have. And it’s completely irresponsible to keep on spending just because the feds can keep on printing the money.

He could fix that problem by taking a strong stand against the bailout and sticking to it.

What is the makeup of the remaining third that support the bailout or are undecided?

It was just a five-second blurb at the top of the hour, so they didn't go into detail. My guesses, based on living here? That third is made up of ardent socialists, the terminally ignorant and the comatose (they vote here in Mass., too, I understand).

WaMu lost 14/15/16 BILLION in deposits over the last ten days according to the local papers. Can any bank survive a general run on banks?

“Obama’s campaign staff just announced that if Reid needs him to sign the bail-out bill Reid has to bring it to Obama so he doesn’t have to leave the campaign trail.”

Sign? Has the election already been held? All he has to do is vote on it, right? And he can’t do that via remote.

Watching FOX is like watching a weekend long Obama commercial.

Because McCain and Palin are nowhere to be found, and FNC is giving 0bama about 10 minutes of free air time, basking in the applause of the 0bamabots.

Agree completely. Last I heard, only 23% of the taxpayers were in favor of this deplorable rape of America’s pocketbook.

What part of fiscal responsibility do they not understand?

Can you say ‘martial law’? Read up on Honest Abe. Imagine Change a la Obama with that same zeal. Ugly. Bad. Really bad.

I keep saying that the rats aren't going to be happy until they force the creation of a National Front. I know I'm way out there, but the kind of thing you describe will not be taken lying down by everyone. The worst thing possible that could happen.

LOL! If its so great, then why don't the Democrats vote for this so-called compromise. If the bailout will save the country, why don't they vote for it today and take all the credit? What do they need the GOP for here?

“If the majority of the American people are against this bailout and the republicans are against this bail out, why
is McCain dropping in the polls.”

For one reason, and one reason only: BECAUSE HE HAS NOT COME OUT AGAINST THE BAILOUT.

What a jerk.

No. Let’s hope Shumer doesn’t try to create any new ones, but at this point, if your bank account is with Chase or Citi or BofA, you don’t need to worry (esp. if it is under $100k - why anyone would have more than $100k in a savings or checking acct is beyond me, but some rich people do some very dumb things).

See my post 148. I don’t buy the premise, unless he has already been elected and inaugurated. And, if they do have to sign something after they vote, he can’t vote from the trail.
