Summary of Obama's debate performance tonight: "I've got a bracelet, too."
PBS ^ | 9/26/2008 | PBS

Barack was the very junior senator on the defensive the entire evening.

After John McCain eloquently (and without notes) discussed the bracelet he wears given to him by the mom of a dead Iraq war vet.

Trying to prove his own support for the troops, Obama chimed in with a pathetic "I've got a bracelet, too," as he looked down at his notes to read the name of the soldier.

I just checked briefly over at DU. The few posts about the debate claimed that it was a tie.

Obama is toast.

They are also posting polls to vote on.

You are right...we are not going to reach these people.

Actually I do think these people can be influenced. I think it is very important to go after their vote. Like most responsible people this woman is against the bail-out. I talked to her about Acorn and Obama's relationship to the mortgage industry. I was very non-aggressive; I just said, "Yeah all that ACORN stuff really bothers me...." and I let her ask me to tell her more. I use a variety of openings to engage people and attempt to encourage and validate their pre-existing suspicions and doubts about Obama.

"Obviously you are blind. "

Obviously...

I admit that I was working throughout the debate, listening and the TV is off to my left a bit. I thought I was watching at that moment, but a dozen people have now pointed out to me that McCain did in fact have the bracelet on and held it up to the camera. My mistake and I must have looked back at my laptop right at that moment. Shame, there could have been a very real moment in this debate if McCain had waited until BHO finished his "I have a bracelet too" thing and then stated, "There's one important difference here, I am wearing my bracelet" and actually pointed that out for everyone to consider, to consider the insincerity of Barry "having" a bracelet but not wearing it, of Barry wanting to accept the credit for having such a bracelet but disrespecting what that bracelet represents by his refusal to wear it.

But I stand corrected on my main point and I'm very happy to know John had his bracelet on.

Cheers,
Lloyd

Hope you are right EarlyBird. Naming names, associations of Fannie and Freddie CEOs to the chosen one, how CEOs inflated spreadsheets to max their bonuses out and revised spreadsheets during 1st quarter of next fiscal year, CEOs fired and under investigations. The fighter pilot needs to blast the Chosen One with all 9 yards.

Yeah! It didn't register with people right away.

Need to tell everyone about that.

Again, I really hate to say but IMHO the mm will call this one a big win for Obama.

No surprise. But beware of falling for the bogus crap about body language etc. Almost all of that stuff is BS with no empirical support whatsoever. It is pablum for media pukes and paperback writers, nothing more. The real data show that in the aggregate, as a whole, the people can tell real from phoney regardless of postures and facial expressions.

"Makes me wonder whether 0bama’s team didn’t somehow have a look at McCain’s debate material."

What debate Material... LOL Bambi has been prepping as was widely reported in the News.... for the last what 3 to 5 days..... What was McCain doing? It wasn't PREPPING that's for damn sure.... lol Obama got his ass handed to him. He left the room the most frustrated. Hands down. Can't deny it. He verbally Agreed with Mccain, a subservient position psychologically. McCain wiped the floor with him. The whole Dr. Kissinger thing... I mean DAMN..... that's like a "I Knew Jack Kennedy" Moment. Good on McCain. I am greatly relieved to hear the same man today that I heard in 1992 tonight. He is better in debate than he is on the stump, and I think that might well be the difference.

Gotta push that.

Also, we’ve gotta push the part about his partner “Joe Biden.”

It was almost like he was saying, “I don’t know anything about this, but I’ve got a big brother who does.”

Amazing.

Obama came off as very defensive and quiet frankly rude. He was always holding up a finger, and trying to get Jim to let him interrupt McCain.

I wonder if he ever challenged Rev. Wright like that during one of his harangues?

You are right - we are not like other people. Most people are CLUELESS about what is going on. When I visited my parents a few weeks ago, I filled them in and they were SHOCKED about what they were not hearing from the mainstream media.

"Me too."

Obama uses that answer a lot.

Hey, Gunny.

I know how you feel about children. God has been SO good to us. He gave us eleven children, nine still at home ranging in age from 7 to 19, and two married, with 8 grandchildren.

The Democrats have to import their voters.

We just breed ours!
:)

As for this election, I understand. And you are right about God ultimately being in control. He said to Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 4:17,

“The Most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever He will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.”

“Basest of men” could mean “humblest”, and it could mean “most bestial”. I believe the ambiguity of meaning is intentional.

Casualty bracelets are meaningless unless you wear them.

Why did he have to look at his notes? If he were honest about having one, he’d be wearing it.

Such unwashed Bullshit...

O had the stuttering under control for the most part tonight. Next debate, McCain has to connect with 2 or 3 aggressive moves in sequence — we might see the stuttering get out control, which would be fun.

I adore the smell of hard core liberals quoting Reagan in the morning (or evening in this case.)

IMO, it shows fear.

I also found it humorous that the debate was held theatrical forum of the university. The venue was priceless.

I know what you mean. I’m sure if the shoe was on the other foot, Obama would taken the opportunity to blast McCain, no matter what the damage to the bailout negotiations or to the markets. But Obama is not a responsible politician.

The same goes for all the Democrats on the hill as well. Paulson asks that all attendees at the WH meeting not talk about what went on. And what do the Democrats immediately do? Not only talk about it, but make up lies about what happened.

I’ve got to believe, maybe wishful thinking, that all the Republicans, including McCain, are going to go after the Democrats for their complicity in the mortgage mess after the bailout is behind us. But right now things are just too delicate.

a 63 year old retired civil servant;Reagan Democrat type. She hates Bush, but not like a Bush Hater. She said she thinks Bush is a nice man who means well but that he is just stupid. She wants a "change" and generally disapproves of Republicans and is leaning Obama but she just doesn't like him or trust him very much.

Beware the brain dead idiots. They look normal, and they walk among us.
