I lurked over my wife’s shoulder during the 2000 election, and joined myself about a month before 9/11. I don’t even remember what it was about, but she refused to pass on my comments, so I had to stop lurking.
I used to post on that other site with a variation of Old Student, and shortly after I started posting here, I couldn’t post there anymore, so I’ve hung out here instead. Generally speaking, I think this is a nicer group, and there is a LOT more to talk about here.

I heard that Bill Clinton was coming to Austin Texas. I made some signs and headed to the airport grounds right by the highway.
KLBJ came by and talked to me, boy I talk too much, but I knew one person was going to join me and 2 others showed up. One was a freeper. I didn’t know what that was and she tried to explain and emailed me the link of her after action report.
I read it with great interested and after about 8 posts nothing else was said and I thought, “this is really a boring website” I didn’t know anything about surfing. so it must have been a couple more years during the 2000 election and I figured out how to look at FR and meet up with other freepers at the Governors mansion between election and consession. I was there 11 of the 36 days. met some great freepers and they are still friends today. We just don’t get together much unless it is a freep.
Great people. Some really great freeps.
From the better late then never department...Thanks for the pictures...Don is on my hero’s list and the photos are included in my folder now.
i am unsure exactly how i found FR but it must have been related to a site called Whitwater Files on DRUDGE.

Heard Doug From Upland calling in to the George Putnam radio show during the late 90s. He often talked about FreeRepublic (in between his excellent limericks).
