John McCain announced that he will suspend his presidential campaign on Thursday to return to Washington to help with bailout negotiations. He urged his opponent Barack Obama to do the same.
The Arizona senator also asked the Presidential Debate Commission to postpone Friday’s scheduled debate with Obama so that he can work on the financial crisis bailout plan now on Capitol Hill.
“America this week faces an historic crisis in our financial system. We must pass legislation to address this crisis. If we do not, credit will dry up, with devastating consequences for our economy. People will no longer be able to buy homes and their life savings will be at stake. Businesses will not have enough money to pay their employees. If we do not act, ever corner of our country will be impacted. We cannot allow this to happen,” McCain said.
LOL, I know.
Just imagine if the Dims had our “feepers”, they would be sniveling all day, instead they are out on the net, on the phone, on TV protesting, writing letters, and pounding away no matter how far behind.

Because they have not been prepping for the domestic issues debate. If you don’t think massive amounts of practice go into these debates you are from another planet.

Wow...brilliant again! Can you imagine the Dem senators letting Obama upstage them?? I can't. They'll always be hovering in the background like puppetmasters.
It's now one of those “3am” moments for Obama.
Obama can now a) go back to Washington and participate in the debate on the bailout, or b) continue to campaign.
If he follows scenario a) Obama looks like a follower, not a leader.
If he follows b) he looks weak and selfish while McCain sacrifices his selfinterest for the good of the country.
The Obama people are huddled together right now having a koniption fit trying to decide which option to choose.
They won't be able to decide, and the media will start pestering them for an answer.
Great comment. Once again we are seeing the contrast between the doer who puts country first and the bloviator who puts his own political ambitions first.
It does indeed elevate the crisis even more in the public’s mind.
Whether that’s a good thing or not, time will tell.

That argument doesn’t fly — everybody knows that it’s routine for Senators and Congresscritters to go on the campaign trail (if only for reelection) while continuing to do their jobs.

If it was Obama's idea, why is it taking him so long to respond to McCain's challenge? You'd think with all that executive experience he claims to have gotten by running his campaign, he'd be able to respond in a timely manner.
I think that it all depends on the spin. IF (and this is a big IF) McCain can get his message out fast enough, and loud enough, and be perceived as taking the "High Road", then he just sealed the election.
However, if Obama is allowed to grab the focus...McCain just fumbled the ball inside his own 20. It won't break him, but he'll lose whatever small edge he has right now.
I always tried to give you the benefit of the doubt on the poll threads, but your overt pessimism appears intentional. Carry on the DU tactics if you wish, but you've outed yourself.
