John McCain announced that he will suspend his presidential campaign on Thursday to return to Washington to help with bailout negotiations. He urged his opponent Barack Obama to do the same.
The Arizona senator also asked the Presidential Debate Commission to postpone Fridays scheduled debate with Obama so that he can work on the financial crisis bailout plan now on Capitol Hill.
America this week faces an historic crisis in our financial system. We must pass legislation to address this crisis. If we do not, credit will dry up, with devastating consequences for our economy. People will no longer be able to buy homes and their life savings will be at stake. Businesses will not have enough money to pay their employees. If we do not act, ever corner of our country will be impacted. We cannot allow this to happen, McCain said.
And Obama’s campaign wouldn’t lie. LOL.
ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good grief, you never stop.
Who cares about a joint statement? In other words, OBmama did not want to act alone.
Libs are all talk and no action.
McCain has big brass balls.
That is no doubt, one of the most ludicrous statements I've seen on FR in a long time. In fact it would fit in quite well with the mentality of a Democratic Underground poster.
Are you sure you didn't take an internet wrong turn somewhere?
He’ll be too depressed to show up. ;)
Fine. Let them anger 60,000,000 people over 55...
Disclaimer: That may not be an accurate figure, but I'm too lazy to look it up now...
O is claiming he called McCain this morning to see if McCain wanted to jointly release a ststement concerning areas they agree on in ref to the bailout.
why are you all gettin’ on Dog here?
His sentence is a little grammatically tortured, but he is AGREEING

Yes, that is being missed.
People have not grasped that we have a true crisis on our hands. This is not posturing, and this bailout bill is floundering. If someone has a better idea (than what Paulson proposes), they sure haven’t offered it.
Shouldn’t SENATOR biden also be in Washington earning his paycheck????
Personally, I don’t like the sound of it. The McCain campaign has mostly been doing well up ‘til now. This is going to come off as a political stunt. I sure hope I’m wrong.
ABC is reporting that Obama will NOT cancel the debate.
Looks like the candidate of “change” just can’t seem to put country over his own political future.
Way to go dumb@ss. You just helped make up the minds of the undecided voters who watched one man put his campaign on hold for the good of the country.
I am proud of John McCain today. His character and his heart is in the right place, fighting for the American people.
He was not my first choice for the nominee, but I’d sure as heck want him in my corner if I were in a tough spot!
Count on Dems saying he’s “unstable” and “impetuous.”
Crazy like a fox.
The move by McCain puts Obama in a tough spot: If he insists on having Friday's debate, McCain and his allies could blame any hiccups in negotiations on Obama's desire to keep a political event on the schedule.
So far, it would appear the decision to temporarily suspend the campaign is playing well for McCain.
The only thing Obama reportedly said was “Let’s issue a joint statement”.
Who cares about a joint statement??
Someone’s been discussing U.S. history with Joe Biden again...
So?
Should all of our moves be done with an eye to some whacked-out statement from a biased press?
Dont demand boldness from a candidate and then piss and moan about what the press is going to say about it.
Do you just get the feeling that higher powers are at work here ?
How in the heck is McCain even in this race ? This is the most Democratic year since 1932 ?
Wow...
