A federal grand jury in Chattanooga, Tenn., reportedly adjourned today without delivering an indictment in the hacking of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's personal e-mail account.
The grand jury heard testimony this morning from three friends of University of Tennessee student David Kernell, according to the Chattanooga Times-Free Press, but ended its session around noon without returning an indictment.

Thanks for the info.
I was on FR a little yesterday, but it was so slow I gave up eventually.
Not only is a grand jury required, it must be a federal grand jury, since the crime is a Federal one.
I tried a quick search to identify the current members for the Chatanooga district, but no luck so far.
I do not believe that the members can be "secret."
This is the ‘cover-up’.
In my neck of the woods (Indianapolis), grand juries are typically already seated, and serve for nearly three months (a quarter of a year). This way, should something important come up, they could quickly review evidence and decide (or not decide) to recommend an indictment.
“The hastily gathered grand jury, supplied by the DNC and the Mid-Tennessee O’Bama for Change Committee, heard testimony this morning from three friends of University of Tennessee...”
Silly FReeper, indictments are for McCain supporters!
Well I wish you would have been around when I made stupid mistakes-I paid for all mine. This Obama paid creature will be hero, and I had to petition for expungement of a LESSER charge. Im sorry, whats good for the goose has to be good for the gander..
Dem Get out of Jail Free Card
So much for GJ’s “indicting a ham sandwich”.
There must have been lipstick on that pig, err...I mean ham.
I hate these media types and am so happy I dropped my cable at times like this.
Ding, ding, ding, we have a winnah!
I must admit to going off half-cocked when I read the headline and saw RED.
I know you weren’t addressing me but I feel guilty and would like to confess.
No, a grand jury is not required to rubber-stamp a prosecutor's view. They would be totally pointless if that were the case. That said, the standard for indictment is pretty low if I remember correctly.
You may have been asking if it necessary for a grand jury to meet and agree before any indictment is handed down. I don't believe so. I think a prosecutor who feels he has a strong case can indict without one, but I'm not sure.
Freepmail me if you'd like an example of a grand jury which did not indict on recommended charges.
Rules and Laws are for Republicans only......Democrats get by with MURDER!!!
Are you a mom who’s kid has dome stupid things and you didn’t want him punished????geesh.....HACKING is NOT A PRANK, LADY! SHORT-SHEETING is a PRANK.
The FBI has the log files from Yahoo and the hacker's ISP. The operator of the proxy server has turned over his log files and is cooperating.
There is no point in getting in an uproar if the indictment isn't handed up today. If David Kernell was the hacker, he will be indicted soon and brought to justice. If his roommates took the fifth, they'll be given immunity and compelled to testify.
The more interesting question is whether the FBI can catch the other hackers who logged in after the first one disclosed the changed password.
The hacker said THAT?? Where? I didn’t read anything about his threat to use it!! TELL ME!!
This confirms there are two Americas.
This is in federal court for a federal crime and it will be an assistant us attorney prosecuting, not the local DA.
