Two weeks ago, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation published a piece by Toronto writer Heather Mallick that sprayed far Left elitism like blood from a cleanly-severed carotid artery. In it, she described supporters of Republican vice-Presidential nominee Sarah Palin as “white trash” and ascribed more insulting terminology to the Alaska governor and her family.
Which presumably makes this black columnist “white trash.” Curious… ... cont.

If the rantings of my sister and brother are any indication, yes. Both well educated, married with kids. Both living in Washington state. I am no longer able to discuss politics with either of them as it so quickly gets ugly. Painfully sad for me.
He's saying that, if anybody who supports Sarah Palin is "white trash" as Mallick suggests, then that makes him "black white trash".

I have friends in the same situation -— daughter and husband and family live in Washington state and they can no longer discuss politics with them.
I told her that her daughter was now part of a certain social group that considers themselves superior in ‘class’ to the rest of the country. She’s dealing with class snobbery.
People just won’t give up that false, cheap feeling of social superiority that being ‘left’ gives them. So it’s no point arguing facts.
That’s the left -— that is its sole claim to legitimacy. No facts, not economics, but social superiority.
We have entered an age of class snobbery. Amereica didn’t used to be like this.

As per Ms. Mallick, Palin brings nothing to the McCain ticket other than the white trash vote, which McCain already had sewn up. She’s an Alaska hillbilly (A Canadian wrote this??!!??). She goes on to outline, in oh-so-clever verbiage the finer points that distinguish ‘white trash’ from ‘trailer trash’. Her conclusion is that Palin is ‘white trash’.

The campaign of tawdry insults directed at Palin is in the spirit of the schoolyard invective that has been flying as regards the vice-Presidential nominee, such as making fun of her religion, appearance, upbringing, hobbies and her children’s names. The latter is in itself is an extraordinarily bad idea. Not that I’d know much about it, being white trash and all, but Democrats are likely to lose a substantial portion of the black vote if they keep that up. Tabascus-Jamal and Uniqua aren’t going to take kindly to a party that disrespects people simply because they have unusual names.
