McCain Responds to Obama's Reported Undermining of the Commander-In-Chief During Wartime

McCain Responds to Obama's Reported Undermining of the Commander-In-Chief During Wartime [Andy McCarthy]

The McCain Campaign has issued a statement responding to the report from Amer Taheri (see today's web briefing) that Sen. Obama secretly negotiated with the Iraqi government regarding U.S. withdrawal from Iraq. McCain spokesman Randy Scheunemann stated as follows:

At this point, it is not yet clear what official American negotiations Senator Obama tried to undermine with Iraqi leaders, but the possibility of such actions is unprecedented. It should be concerning to all that he reportedly urged that the democratically-elected Iraqi government listen to him rather than the US administration in power. If news reports are accurate, this is an egregious act of political interference by a presidential candidate seeking political advantage overseas. Senator Obama needs to reveal what he said to Iraq's Foreign Minister during their closed door meeting. The charge that he sought to delay the withdrawal of Americans from Iraq raises serious questions about Senator Obama's judgment and it demands an explanation.

Well, since Obamessiah and his media friends have been sliming McCain the entire day, maybe we can fight back with just the facts :D

The activity has been ramping up in this campaign a bit at a time; a new detail here, another embarassment there, very smoothly but at a pace calculated to keep an amateur like our Messiah off balance. Then this hits. What’s his excuse now? The flavor of this contest is about to change. I think I’m gonna like it just fine, too.

That’s true, but the time it would take for this story to shake out to the point where a candidate switch would be necessary would eat up most of the seven weeks left before day zero. Besides, we still vote for electors. Whose electors? A ballot would still be needed.

This story, if true, is unspikable. The Corporate Media will be forced to choose sides. Nation or Party. It won’t be pretty and it won’t be quick. We can be patient because it’s becoming clear that the left’s loop is under control. Just not their control.

I was really upset over that "Gang of 10" rumor and was all ready to start bombarding McCain's office with calls. I pray it's not true or he'll throw victory away! Tuning in to Greta for "First Dude" interview now.

Be nice to me...there's a full moon tonight. ;)

He argued it would make sense to hold off on such negotiations until the next administration.

This alone is a clear violation. Senators do NOT have negotiating authority. It should be thoroughly investigated. And if he tried to push a system that would keep our troops in Iraq longer for political, that is a criminal act and the end of his campaign.

Liberals suck and military personnel, who disdain all politicians but especially liberals, despise them.

Guys - Color me skeptical that Obama actually did this. This is something that is beyond the imagination. It cannot be. This will turn out to be THE story of the decade and IF TRUE will surely lead to the immediate suspension of the Obama / Biden campaign.

You evidently don't recall the Democrats who met with Saddam prior to the invasion -- Jim McDermott and David Bonior, both House members, who stood on Hussein's balcony with him and willingly propagandized for him.

Or how about Senator Rockefeller who, just prior to the Iraq invasion, travelled to Syria to meet with Bashar Assad? Rockefeller told Assad that Bush meant to invade Iraq and that he should warn Saddam of this so that he would be prepared.

As a group, Democrats have gotten into the annoying (and thoroughly dangerous) habit of conducting their own foreign policy -- most of it independent of and counter to the interests of the United States.

That Obama would attempt to actively undermine ongoing negotiations between the United States government and a foreign power is, unfortunately, consistent with Democrat party practice.

Just about everything is above Obamessiah's pay grade except giving campaign speeches, voting "present" 100+ times, and campaigning for his next office before he's even acquainted himself with his duties in his current office'just eating my damn waffles'.

just a slight tweak...

Yes, it is. But senators aren’t subject to laws like the rest of us peasants. McCain should have quoted the law and charged Obama with violating the Logan Act.

Actually, if McCain responded in real-time, he’d leave himself open to the charge of having planted the story (whether he did or not). Dinnertime is news time - that means McCain made the primary news hour of he day.

I don’t have any issue with the timing of McCain’s response.

I recall all of that, and more. And that BO would do likewise is all too likely, but during a presidential campaign? Not even Obama can think himself that infallible.

And they are already under scrutiny for being in the bag for Obama with the US Weekly and Charlie Gibson debacles.

The First Dude is a doll. It’s funny, Lynne Cheney was just on H&C promoting her new book. I was thinking—I wonder what Todd’s role might be like?
