McCain Responds to Obama's Reported Undermining of the Commander-In-Chief During Wartime [Andy McCarthy]

The McCain Campaign has issued a statement responding to the report from Amer Taheri (see today's web briefing) that Sen. Obama secretly negotiated with the Iraqi government regarding U.S. withdrawal from Iraq. McCain spokesman Randy Scheunemann stated as follows:

At this point, it is not yet clear what official American negotiations Senator Obama tried to undermine with Iraqi leaders, but the possibility of such actions is unprecedented. It should be concerning to all that he reportedly urged that the democratically-elected Iraqi government listen to him rather than the US administration in power. If news reports are accurate, this is an egregious act of political interference by a presidential candidate seeking political advantage overseas. Senator Obama needs to reveal what he said to Iraq's Foreign Minister during their closed door meeting. The charge that he sought to delay the withdrawal of Americans from Iraq raises serious questions about Senator Obama's judgment and it demands an explanation.

Heck, he's spent the last two years trying to UNDERMINE and DEMORALIZE our military's efforts in Iraq,,,,,

If true, it's not the first time a democrat has gone to Iraq and attempted to undermine this administration.

Jim McDermott, David Bonior of Michigan and Mike Thompson all traveled to Iraq, on Saddams dime, in an attempt to undermine the administration. Those three should have been charged with treason and at least removed from office.

Guys - Color me skeptical that Obama actually did this.

I don't know. He was in Iraq before the convention, on his seeming victory lap around the world, with his "presidential seal" in hand. This was at the time he was already acting like he was the president, including starting to form a transition team. I can see a self confident candidate, who is ahead in the polls, actually doing this.

Obama staffer gave warning of NAFTA rhetoric

Barack Obama has ratcheted up his attacks on NAFTA, but a senior member of his campaign team told a Canadian official not to take his criticisms seriously, CTV News has learned.

Both Obama and Hillary Clinton have been critical of the long-standing North American Free Trade Agreement over the course of the Democratic primaries, saying that the deal has cost U.S. workers’ jobs.

Within the last month, a top staff member for Obama’s campaign telephoned Michael Wilson, Canada’s ambassador to the United States, and warned him that Obama would speak out against NAFTA, according to Canadian sources.

The staff member reassured Wilson that the criticisms would only be campaign rhetoric, and should not be taken at face value.

But Tuesday night in Ohio, where NAFTA is blamed for massive job losses, Obama said he would tell Canada and Mexico “that we will opt out unless we renegotiate the core labour and environmental standards.”

Late Wednesday, a spokesperson for the Obama campaign said the staff member’s warning to Wilson sounded implausible, but did not deny that contact had been made.

If this is true, it's high time that Obama is interrogated.

Another instance where Obama inserted himself into a foreign country's presidential election produces some questions.

Why did Obama meddle in the presidential politics of a foreign nation - Kenya?

Why did he support Odinga after he signed the memorandum of understanding with the radical Islamicists in Kenya?

The post election violence in Kenya killed over a thousand people and displaced another three hundred thousand or more. Scores of Christian churches were burned in a wave of tribal and anti-Christian religious violence that, again, left no mosques damaged. If Obama continues to support Odinga as prime minister is he thereby accepting or condoning the post-election violence that brought Odinga to power, and a radical agenda from the left that would expand Islam in Kenya? If so, Obama is pro-Islam. And, what does that mean for America?

Obama needs a comeuppance for this crap.
