Brokaw Goes Brazile: Uses 'Jesus a Community Organizer' To Bash Giuliani

How distasteful was Donna Brazile's line about Jesus being a community organizer and Pontius Pilate a governor for purposes of making an invidious comparison between Barack Obama and Sarah Palin? Enough that even ardent Obama-phile Chris Matthews rapped Dem congressman Steve Cohen's knuckles for repeating it on the House floor.

But, incredibly, when Rudolph Giuliani appeared on Meet the Press today, Tom Brokaw used the same line to confront Rudy over comments in his GOP convention speech about Obama's community organizing. Brokaw went so far as to display a button [screencap after jump] bearing the phrase. Brokaw might just as well have been wearing it.

Brokaw and all of the Obama cultists reveal their immense ignorance of history, Christianity, and the New Testament.

It has frequently been a source of frustration to left-wing activists over the past two centuries that in fact Jesus Christ did NOT have some big message of “progressive activism” in this world and that in many respects the body of Christian belief (not to mention the actual life of Jesus) is too “other worldly” to serve major political activism ala Obama.

So the left continually tries to re-write the Christian gospels to produce what they believe the message of Jesus OUGHT to have been. This can be seen in the last century in the “social gospel” movement of Walter Rauschenberg and everything that followed.

This is not to deny that there are many programs of “good works” organized by all sorts of Christian churches of varying outlooks (liberal, conservative, etc.), but to pretend that the main focus of the life of Jesus Christ and his teachings was to demonstrate ACORN-style activist programs for the contemporary political socialist left is simply preposterous.

Not only is a Roman Governor like Pontius Pilate, appointed by the Emperor in Rome, completely unlike a democratically elected Governor in the modern USA, but the Roman Empire is antithetical to the political system of the USA.

You did an excellent job of fleshing out the difference between the meaning of the title Govenor relating to Pilate. It really is amazing and in a couple of sources I checked to make sure he was appointed by Rome, the title they listed for Pilate was not even Govenor.
