How distasteful was Donna Brazile's line about Jesus being a community organizer and Pontius Pilate a governor for purposes of making an invidious comparison between Barack Obama and Sarah Palin? Enough that even ardent Obama-phile Chris Matthews rapped Dem congressman Steve Cohen's knuckles for repeating it on the House floor.
But, incredibly, when Rudolph Giuliani appeared on Meet the Press today, Tom Brokaw used the same line to confront Rudy over comments in his GOP convention speech about Obama's community organizing. Brokaw went so far as to display a button [screencap after jump] bearing the phrase. Brokaw might just as well have been wearing it.

Other than Revelation in his mystical appearance to John, I can't recall his ever claiming to be who he was, not to the Apostles (Peter was the first to catch on), not to Pontius Pilate, not to anyone but to the Samaritan woman at the well.
Judas handled the money or "kept the purse" as IIRC one translation has it.
Sarc/off
When these people talk about the Bible and Christianity they are like clumsy tourists trying to mock their way through a conversation with the natives.
He preached and taught, healed the sick and raised the dead. He told them of the good news. He claimed to be the Son of God and the Son of Man. He was concerned with the afterlife, and hardly concerned at all about present politics, government etc. He did say pay your taxes and obey the government as much as you can.
As I’m sure you’re quite aware, Jesus’ Dad said in no uncertain terms that most of those things were to be avoided.
Word was that Tom Brokaw had Keith Olberman bounced from live election coverage because Brokaw was embarrassed by the lack of objectivity. Now we can see that Brokaw was just a jealous, little girl getting rid of her competition.
listen, i am not religious, but it sure seems to me that playing the obama=jesus card is only going to piss of every religious person in the country, no?
...but i do agree it will lock in susan sarandon, michael moore, barbra streisand, etc
Tom Brokaw has been outed. Unfortunate; I thought he was a stand-up guy.
Yeah, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords was a community organizer. Amazing how they disrespect a King, isn’t it?
I am so sick of the left hypocritically using Jesus Christ and comparing a politician to the Son of God.
It is demeaning and insulting to refer to Jesus Christ SIMPLY (in 21st century politispeak) as merely a ‘Community Organizer’.
Now, if they want to truly recognize WHAT and WHO Jesus Christ is, He was not a community organizer. He did not sit on a board that paid him hundreds of thousands of dollars, who asked people for millions of dollars, who then turned around and instead of using this money to end poverty, gave it to select politicians to get certain things done and make political allies, and pave the way for his entrance into a state senator job.
Now Christ was THE Son of the Living God, He is the Savior of the World, and only by believing in Him and what He came to do here, die on the cross and pay the sin debts of all of us - if you want to REALLY try to compare Obama to the real Jesus Christ, then go ahead. We will be ready for that mistake.
Hey man, let’s drink the Kool-Aid!
Nope. He had plenty of people fooled for awhile after he wrote his "Greatest Generation" book, but now I wonder if that book was ghost-written. Brokaw is a leftist Democrat scumbag and always has been.
What was Rudy’s response??
It's been awhile since I read the bible, but the only community organizing Jesus ever did was to tell the disciples to have the crowd sit down in "companies of ten" when he performed the miracle of the loaves and fishes."
Pontius Pilate would have been an apointee of the Roman Caesar or whatever his underlings were called, not an elected governor. So the comparison is not analogous to Sarah.
It's getting absurd. They started it. Neither McCain nor Sarah mentioned any scriptures or religion in the positions as nominees that I can recall. Obama has brought it up a few times with his version.
What is this crap about Jesus being a “community organizer”? Jesus was a teacher but he NEVER organized a community to do anything!
And it flat disgusts me that the lunatic left, which now includes the MSM, is insinuating that Obama is the equivalent of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
