Washington is the latest state to show a strong western surge for John McCain since he added Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to the Republican ticket.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in Washington finds Barack Obama still ahead, but barely. It’s Obama 49%, McCain 47%. A month ago, Obama was up by twelve percentage points. Recent polls have shown McCain gains in Montana, New Mexico and North Dakota.
Among Democrats, Obama now attracts 83% of the vote, down six points from last month. However, the big change comes among unaffiliated voters who now favor McCain by a 48% to 43% margin. In August, before the two parties held their conventions, Obama led by twelve among voters not affiliated with either major political party (see demographic crosstabs).
Washington has a pretty strong Evangelical crowd that people don't really think about. Combine that with Dino Rossi voters who were cheated out of an election and a corrupt governor giving state money to Indian tribes in exchange for contributions and I believe McCain will take Washington, and Oregon for that matter.

Gregoire took 650,000 dollars from tribal casino’s as campaign contributions and then gave the casinos the right to keep every bit of money, no money comes back to the state, she was bought off.

I wouldn’t be so happy yet. People hardly ever poll Washington because it leans safely democratic. Obama also won every county in the state in the primary.
Methinks maybe Republicans are still outraged at how Gregoire stole the 2004 Governor’s race. There’ll be a rematch this year which will hopefully fire up the Republicans who were defrauded last time.
Survey USA’s poll 2 days ago has Rossi 1% ahead of Gregoire.

As for the running mates, Biden is viewed favorably by 56%, Palin by 51%. However, feelings are much stronger about Palin—39% voice a Very Favorable opinion of her while 31% have a Very Unfavorable view. For Biden, the comparable numbers are 26% Very Favorable and 22% Very Unfavorable.
Among unaffiliated voters, McCain is viewed favorably by 66%, Obama by 55%, Palin by 53%, and Biden by 49%.
Fifty-one percent (51%) say that Palin was the right choice for McCain to make while 40% say that Biden was the right choice for Obama.
By a 53% to 36% margin, unaffiliated voters say McCain made the right choice. Thirty-five percent (35%) of unaffiliateds say that Obama made the right choice while 33% disagree.
Seventy-six percent (76%) of Obama voters say they’re voting enthusiastically for their candidate while 19% are voting primarily against McCain.
Sixty-nine percent (69%) of McCain voters are voting enthusiastically for him while 27% are voting primarily against Obama.
McCain is more favoured than Obama by 11% among unaffilates but look at the favourable ratings
McCain 60% favourable Obama 58% favourable.

Well it seems the blue state voters have other ideas, he may have to fight more than he thought and in states he does not want to.

Wow, indeed. Polls tightening in PA and MI. I didn’t think about her effect in WA State, but this would be huge. Even if McCain/Palin don’t win it they are going to force Obama to spend a lot of resources here. The Obama-ites must be crapping their pants.
I also saw that California is in play. Not sure if it’s worth wasting time out there just yet. Could be a faint by the left leaning polling orgs to get McCain trying to take “Montreal”. If I were McCain I would focus on shoring up Florida, Va, Pa, Ohio and MI. I think they go McCain anyway but time and money would be well spent there. I still think it’s a 40+ state landslide for McCain but who knows what scandal the MSM can concoct to trim McCain’s polling numbers. I think the Clinton pow-wow yesterday was about Bill C telling Barry to run against McCain like he did against the congress by blaming them for everything. Only thing is taking advice from Bill C is like taking advice from John Gruden on how to be a Super Bowl dynasty. Um a lucky run does’nt make you an expert Bill on anything.
A close defeat will cause rioting. An Obama win will cause "victory" rioting like you see after silly basketball or football championships.
