As the rain cleared, and the sun began to rise, Key peered through the lifting darkness anxious to see if the flag they had seen the night before was still flying. And so it was that he scribbled on the back of an envelope the first lines of a poem he called Defense of Fort M'Henry

Good morning, Everyone. Good morning

Thank you, Ma, for preparing the Canteen for today’s activities.

Now for our local DC Metroland weather report

~ Today....A few showers this morning then thundershowers developing during the afternoon hours. High 78F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 60%.

~ Tonight....Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm this evening, then some lingering showers still possible overnight. Low 69F. Winds light and variable. Chance of rain 60%.

This is one week I am certainly glad has gone on by. Been a very busy and stressful one.

Keeping watch on IKE and Texas. I sure hope all of our FReepers in the path have packed up and taken an early vacation somewhere else.

Speaking of vacation, I booked hotel reservations last night for early October for a weekend in the Outer Banks, NC. I am keeping my fingers crossed that all the bad weather will be long gone by the time we get there. Hubby and I want to have a nice long weekend and I'll finally get a day at the beach. I am so excited!

Time for me to make my rounds. But, you stay right where you are. Don't touch that dial. Don't change that channel. Put down that remote. Don't leave the room. Keep your eyes on your monitor. Cause...............I'll be bock!

And, for the rest of you………..

Now remember, the Canteen is ALWAYS

So, come on in and sit for a while. There's always plenty of coffee, pancakes, conversation, silliness, and plain old BS

REMEMBER THEM

DEFENDERS OF FREEDOM

FR CANTEEN MISSION STATEMENT

Showing support and boosting the morale of our military and our allied military and the family members of the above. Honoring those who have served before.

Good morning and (((HUGS))) EG. Going ok so far. Didn’t want to get out of bed this morning. I actually eyed the bed after I had gotten up wondering if I could crawl back in and say the heck with it. But, I’m trying to save my leave for October since I’ll be taking a Friday and Monday off. Other than that, waiting for 3 pm so I can go home.

Whatz up out your way?

Well, Beach. I talked to my brother down in Texas yesterday evening. They did evacuate their home.(They live in Sugarland)

They're in College Station right now. They reserved a hotel room. They're going to try to stay there but if it gets too unsafe for them then they will come up here and stay.

Heads up on Ike, folks.

They did call off the folld watch for our part of Oklahoma. It looks like the worst of the heavy rain will track East of us with Ike.

We do however have rain in the frecast for this weekend so we'll see what happens.

They did move the OSU-Washington game at Stillwater from 6:05 PM Saturday to 12:05 PM Saturday. The game is on Fox College Sports but FCS is not on our Digital TV system so we'll be listening to it on the radio.

Batten down yer hatches, mate, Ike’s on his way...

My sis-in-law lives to your east, on the border - we’ve suggested she join her brother in Fort Worth.

How is your rock garden coming along?

I gave up and called a contractor. It'll be in place the end of next week.
