Report: Palin Asked Rick Warren For Advice
Posted by Vaughn Ververs| Comments5
GOP VP nominee Sarah Palin called influential pastor Rick Warren earlier this week to ask for advice on how to handle the criticism that has come her way, The Hill reports.
In a California radio interview, Warren said that Palin had called him to seek help in dealing with the unfair, unjust attacks she said she believes had been launched at her since being tapped as John McCains running mate. Warren recounted the conversation, saying he responded by saying, the question I asked her was 'how can I pray for you?'"
Warren said Palin asked him to send her some bible verses on how do you deal with the unfair, unjust attacks and the mean-spirited criticism that comes in."
Excellant!

i doubt it also
Thanks for the update.
It sounds like he's looking for another 15 minutes of fame by revealing a personal conversation like this!!
I am suspect now about what was said even being true!!
He's acting like just another name dropper making himself seem important, rather than behaving like a pastor.
Just because Warren leads a mega church does not make him somehow more capable of advice.
I would think a man of God who leads a small church would also be able to comfort and give advice to Palin.
If it is true and Warren violated her confidence with her, is disgusting.
If you click through enough pages to get to the original source, it appears that the conversation did happen, but it was Palin returning a call from Warren.
Something is very fishy!! Did you give them the video link?? If not - would you call them back with the information, please?
I should have said audio - not video.. Does his office say this is not him speaking in this conversation on Wednesday while appearing on Brian Oxman's "Insight" radio program on Los Angeles's AM830 KLAA.
How can they say they never heard of it??
Im not sure whether to take this purely at face value or to admire it as a brilliant political calculation as well. Theres no doubt, given her background, that her faiths helping her through this; I just wonder why shes calling Rick Warren instead of her own pastor.
Whatever cone of silence she might momentarily be in, shes obviously hearing Kos, Sullivan, and the Trig Truthers loud and clear.
On a Los Angeles radio show, co-host Kathryn Milofsky asked Warren what one question he would direct at Palin if he was able to have her sit down for a forum like the one he hosted last month with John McCain and Barack Obama at his Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California.
Well actually she called me yesterday, Warren said. The question I asked her was how can I pray for you?
Warren said that Palin then asked me to send her some bible verses on how do you deal with the unfair, unjust attacks and the mean-spirited criticism that comes in.
I find the report to be suspect. From a comment posted at hotair.com:It makes no sense that Palin who is strong Christian would go to Warren for advice and not her own pastor.
Sarah did ask her previous pastor first and it is a beautiful response: The story of Esther. Are you sure the Rick Warren story is right or did he lift it from here?
Bible is Palins professional guide, friends and pastors say
By Kirk Johnson and Kim Severson Published: September 7, 2008WASILLA, Alaska: Shortly after taking office as governor in 2006, Sarah Palin sent an e-mail message to Paul Riley, her former pastor in the Assembly of God Church, which her family began attending when she was a youth. She needed spiritual advice in how to do her new job, said Riley, who is 78 and retired from the church.
She asked for a biblical example of people who were great leaders and what was the secret of their leadership, Riley said.
He wrote back that she should read again from the Old Testament the story of Esther, a beauty queen who became a real one, gaining the kings ear to avert the slaughter of the Jews and vanquish their enemies. When Esther is called to serve, God grants her a strength she never knew she had.
Riley said he thought that Palin had lived out the advice as governor and would do so again as the Republican Partys vice presidential nominee.
God has given her the opportunity to serve, he said. And God has given her the strength to carry out her goals.

I have been suspect of Warren`s Christianity for some time! If he should vote for Obama, I challenge that he has a relationship with Christ at all.
If it`s true that Sarah called him and he in return is talking to the media??? I would actually question his salvation!
So you’re saying that the pastor is lying?
I for one am calling him a liar, if indeed this is true. He preaches a watered down Gospel and he wont take a stand on issues such as abortion/homosexuality.
If he is even considering voting for Obama, then in my opinion he is not even a Christian.
Warren is a SHAMELESS SELF PROMOTER! HE IS NOT AMERICA’S PASTOR NOR IS HE ANY PASTOR!
He is a man-exalting “Christian” humanist.
he broke pastoral confidence to elevate himself. not only that, he misrepresented the case to say that SHE sought him when in fact, HE CALLED HER and she returned his call!
I suspect RW (who is NOT really on the 'good' side if you ask me) is doing the former.
Anyone wanting to be on my (short) PING list for all things deluding the evanegellyfish church these days (Purpose Driven, Emerging church etc) please freepmail me.

UPDATE: Palin’s camp calls to say that the Alaska Gov. was returning Warren’s call. According a Palin spokeswoman, Warren called her on Saturday September 6 and she returned his call on Monday September 8. The Monday phone call is when the above conversation described by Warren took place.
