Report: Palin Asked Rick Warren For Advice
Posted by Vaughn Ververs| Comments5
GOP VP nominee Sarah Palin called influential pastor Rick Warren earlier this week to ask for advice on how to handle the criticism that has come her way, The Hill reports.
In a California radio interview, Warren said that Palin had called him to seek help in dealing with the unfair, unjust attacks she said she believes had been launched at her since being tapped as John McCains running mate. Warren recounted the conversation, saying he responded by saying, the question I asked her was 'how can I pray for you?'"
Warren said Palin asked him to send her some bible verses on how do you deal with the unfair, unjust attacks and the mean-spirited criticism that comes in."
Re: I just lost some respect for her.
For her or for him?
I find the report to be suspect.
It makes no sense that Palin who is strong Christian would go to Warren for advice and not her own pastor.
Another article with audio of Warren on the radio.

"O Lord/ Guard my tongue from evil and my lips from speaking guile,/ And to those who slander me, let me give no heed./ .../ Bring to naught designs of those who seek to do me ill;/Speedily defeat their aims and thwart their purposes/"
Nonsense.
Warren has a LOT more experience dealing with such
CRITICISM
than her own pastor.
The ASSUMPtions and blind rigid biases on this thread are incredible.
" ... Sarah Palin called influential pastor Rick Warren ..."
Who said it was her?
Has Sarah Palin stated this was true?
Put some starch in that spine.
Only Democrat elect gods. The rest elect mortal humans.
What passes between a clergyman and a congregant should remain between the clergyman and the congregant.
I agree, the BS meter is close to pinging on this one. Her mature faith outshines anything I’ve seen, she is fearless because of Whom she trusts. AND if she goes to anyone for advice, I should think it would be her own pastor.
So, either Palin did call him about something else which he is not mentioning or he’s flat out lying that she called him at all which would be extremely stupid on his part. Either way he should not be blabbing about it.
I surmise that he called her first, left a message, and she returned his phone call.
Why would she call him out of the blue?
I also can’t believe that Sarah Palen would want this to be made public . .
This is just a publicity stunt for Pastor Warren and a way to signal his flock that he is supporting the McCain-Palen ticket.
Yes , I think he preys on the weak and then boasts of his council . Not my kind of Pastor .
So you're saying that the pastor is lying?
This was a test.
If this story is true - he failed.
Not necessarily, but the pastor appears to be blabbing.
Rick Warrens flipant attitude on this tape is the most amazing thing about it. I find it impossible to believe.
i bet this is a lie
Since Warren routinely interprets Scripture out of all context and intended meaning to suit his own agenda, if Palin did in fact talk to him on the phone, I have no doubt that he would recount his own alternate reality, “Planet Rick” version of the conversation to the media. Sarah needs to steer clear of this wolf in sheep’s clothing.
I believe I heard that Rick Warren is involved in the emergent church movement.
This is a “to whom it may concern” dilution of Christianity, and very destructive to true Christianity in that it denies the essentials - deity of Christ, virgin birth, death and resurrection.
This came from “the hill” and Palin’s staff said she was RETURNING a call from Rick Warren.
