Amie Parnes reports from Lebanon, VA:
Obama poked fun of McCain and Palin's new "change" mantra.
"You can put lipstick on a pig," he said as the crowd cheered. "It's still a pig."
"You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It's still gonna stink."
"We've had enough of the same old thing."
The crowd apparently took the "lipstick" line as a reference to Palin, who described the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull in a single word: "lipstick."
is the “stinky fish” some kind of female genitals dig?
“Colmes is saying that Obama is fighting back against attacks on his character and he thanks Huckabee for seeing this comment for what it is...”
Now actually that is funny. When I listened to Obama in the video, I immediately thought of Huckabee.
It’s a secret message to his fellow muzzies!
You can wrap a campaign with magical words like hope and change, but it still makes you a marxist.
You can deny your heritage and embrace blackness, but you're still half white.
You can put an American flag on your lapel, but you're still a die hard America hater.
You can read all the pretty words from a teleprompter, but without it, your a stammering fool that makes Forest Gump look like a motivational speaker.
Shall I go on?
Again, if it wasn't for double standards, democrats would have none. They can practice their 'slash and burn' politics of personal destruction--and the MSM looks the other way.
Imagine if McCain practiced 'gutter politics' like that and said anything that insulting and demeaning?
Heck, McCain is playing softball--and won't even let his supporters call him his real name, "Hussein"!!!
THere is no reason. The wheels are coming off of Obama’s campaign and he is floundering around. No doubt the audience thought he was referring to Governor Palin and it could very easily taken that way. I despise myself for thinking this but . . . Hillary! may have had a point that Obama is easily threatened by strong, talented women. Governor Palin has gotten way under Obama’s skin and he is making dumb mistakes. THe best thing Obama could do is shut his yap about Palin but he can’t help himself.
I’m starting to think Obama is the kid who thinks he is the coolest in his high school, and Palin is the smart, pretty, likeable student who shows up and steals his thunder. Obama is certainly acting like an adolescent who feels his social standing is being threatened.
You know...just from reading the ‘media’ reactions...has any woman commented yet? Because, as a woman myself, I find the lipstick-pig-fishy smell trully offensive. Don’t the men understand that?
lipstick on a pig is an old saying... not referencing palin but his choice of words was poor... hate him for his issues and not his choice of words...
c’mon people... freedom of speech and all...

Actually that would be a moose patty that a mooselimb steeped upon.

Lipstick on a Pig [Yuval Levin]
Does anybody really think Obama meant to call Sarah Palin a pig? Come on. Can this really be worth anyone’s time?

Perhaps if it would provide an instructive mirror. We won’t get mad if you use “lipstick on a pig” in reference to our team if you don’t go bananas if we use “pot calling the kettle black” or any of another possibilities that the hypersensitive would scream about.
But I guess that’s unlikely ...

Ouch!
Personally, I have had it with this crap. What an insult to not only Sarah but women everywhere. Is this how this ass speaks to his wife?
Nonetheless, I have just sent out a letter to the editor of both major papers here in MN. Hope they get printed.
unbelievable
huckabee is sticking up for Obama
what is he still sore because he was never picked
unbelievable
Really Presidential of him! /sarc>
This is a big thread, so I’m not sure if I missed this. But to me:
Democratic Congressman Russ Carnahan on Tuesday introducing Joe Biden at a campaign event ripped into Palins record and punctuated it with this snarky jab. Theres no way you can dress up that record, even with a lot of lipstick, he said. Later in the day, Obama used a variation of the lipstick line, though he was clearly talking about the McCain-Palin reform rhetoric. “You can put lipstick on a pig,” he said. “It’s still a pig.”
puts the entire thing in context. Lipstick is their theme for attacking Governor Palin.
My belief all along is Drudge knew Obama would be the easier candidate to take on than Hillary and made sure he did his part to douse the Clinton flame. Now that that battle is over he can help concentrate on showing Obama and Biden for what they are.
Hannity and Colmes did not play the entire thing! Arg!
Does Colmes run that show?
Yep, these ugly personal attacks most certainly ARE definitely "CHANGE YOU CAN BELIEVE IN",,,,
as this ugly personal attack has lowered GUTTER POLITICS to a 'new low'!!!!
Interesting-—— there were three separate “pig” and “lipstick” attacks on Palin today: one from Barack, one from the Congressman introducing Biden and one from Michelle’s chief of staff. I wonder what they have on their minds today?:
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0908/13315.html
“Stephanie Cutter, Michelle Obama’s chief of staff, told MSNBC on Tuesday: “The more we learn about her, the more these facts don’t add up. We now learn that she’s the queen of pork in Alaska.””
“Democratic Congressman Russ Carnahan on Tuesday introducing Joe Biden at a campaign event ripped into Palins record and punctuated it with this snarky jab. Theres no way you can dress up that record, even with a lot of lipstick, he said. Later in the day, Obama used a variation of the lipstick line, though he was clearly talking about the McCain-Palin reform rhetoric. “You can put lipstick on a pig,” he said. “It’s still a pig.””
A. They are both plastic empty vessels with two big handles to hang onto in case they slip.
I checked the youtube video numbers...the counter doesn’t seem to be going higher...hmmmm....
