Governor Sarah Palin! Or, actually, what she signifies.
We've often stated on FR that if the Republicans would only run true conservatives then we'd win more elections. We'd keep the White House, build conservative majorities in congress, replace liberal activist judges with original intent constitutionalists, and eventually overturn Roe v Wade and begin rolling back some of the damage inflicted upon our beloved republic by the socialists and liberals.
John McCain's bold choice of the unabashed pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-liberty, small government, strong defense, fiscal conservative, Sarah Palin, signifies a return to conservatism within the Republican Party.
And the fact that Republicans and conservatives of every stripe, including the Christian right are flocking to her side and that the conservative grassroots has been re-energized literally overnight is proof that when offered the choice of truly conservative candidates, conservatives and Republicans will react accordingly.
Even though I've stated in the past that I would not vote for McCain, I will be supporting this ticket. Governor Palin is a God-fearing, kick butt conservative and I'd much rather have her advising and standing in the wings for the presidency than Joe Biden. I'll definitely pull the lever for her. And I'll do all I possibly can to keep the America-hating Marxist Barack Hussein Obama out of the White House.
Do it for Life. Do it for Liberty. Do it for our troops. Do it for America!
Thank you for your thoughts on this. I’m sure they are shared by many people.
Not only that. How many other conservatives will her example encourage to get involved in the process? If she can survive the firestorm she’s been put through the last two weeks, anyone can run for office on these principles and WIN.
I believe THIS is why the media fears her more than anything else.
Thank you, David!
McCain was last on my list until he chose Sarah.
I can now vote FOR him...well, FOR Sarah, anyway.
At least it’s not a vote against Obama, though those are welcome, too. ;o)
For once Slick Willie was right; Obama is nothing but a fairy tale.
My entire family loves Sarah!
We will need to stay vigilant starting Jan. 21, 2009 though....
I realize you disagree, but that’s OK with me. I don’t expect everyone to think as I do. What I DO hope is that all of us have something to be proud of in the next four years.
Do what you believe in. There is no shame in that.
:o])
Well said!
Thank you Jim for speaking up.
Even before the selection of Sarah Palin, I had, after the primaries, said I would “strongly hold my nose as I enthusiastically pulled the lever” for McCain - whom I never wanted to be the GOP candidate.
My main reason then and now is the courts and while I know there could be no absolute assurances on that from McCain, I knew I could be absolutely assured I would hate any judicial nominee of Obama.
The VP pick of Sarah Palin does not yet seal the concern that McCain will deliver on the judiciary, but it helps.
The next President will be gone in four or eight years. Their judicial nominees will spend the rest of their lives on the bench.
We must elect McCain.
TOWARD VICTORY !!
BTTT and ping-a-ling for words of wisdom from our FR founder Jim Robinson !!
Thanks, Jim.
Your decision makes me more comfortable with my intention to support this ticket, enthusiastically.
I was at the Fairfax VA rally yesterday. The crowd demeanor was one I have not felt in a long time. Long walks, traffic jams, security and a really long wait for the program did not make anyone upset or difficult.
Upbeat friendly conversation with all the folks standing nearby was the rule. What a crowd! Never met one “old crab”.
This is the beginning of something we all need to support and encourage. McCain must be getting the message of CONSERVATE POWER.
Jim, I appreciate your endorsement of the mccain/PALIN ticket.
And, we will preserve our country, save it from socialism a few more years.
There will be changes, there will be things we do not like - but, we will get more than we would under Obama and we will prevent a Hillary future with Palin in office.
This election has already cost me my marriage.
Not many things are worse than political differences
with the spouse. But she’s heavily emotionally invested
in the O-man and when I made it clear that I thought him a charlatan, she left.
Still, It more important that our country be well governed,
and ultimately that is what is most at stake.
I’ve given it my best guess. I’m not convinced I’m right.
When Arnold Schwarzenegger ran, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I didn’t want Bustamante, and I decided to vote and hope that Schwarzenegger’s instincts would lean in the right direction. Since that time he has screwed the state right into the ground. Those days are over for me. If someone wants me to vote for them, they need to have a history and that history needs to be something I can look at and decide to get behind.
I’ve looked at John’s history. I won’t vote for the guy.
Look, if he surprises me, I’ll be quite happy to see it. If he does as I think he will, I don’t want any part of helping him to do it.
I appreciate your take on it. I’m not going to fault you guys. As Jim said, the choices his year are pretty dismal. I have had it up to here with the lesser of two evils dogma. I’m just not going to play that game any longer. If the nation is going to wind up being destroyed in thirty years anyway, why should I fight against the inevitable? We simply cannot continue to slip further left every four years.
ditto
Once upon a long time ago, I was polled during an election year. The query was: If the election was held today, who would you vote for? Blah-blah-blah or Meh-meh-meh?
My response? I would vote for Pat Paulson, because he has more going for him than those comedians in Washington (DC).
Write in whomever you feel comfortable with. I’’ll be the last FReeper to point a finger! (Once burned, twice shy.)
Your heart will tell you how to vote if you will listen to it. And listen with a real intent to KNOW!
(Be true to yourself!)
Take care...
A good day it now is.....
I’m not a McCain supporter and probably never will be. The future of conservatism lies outside the GOP in my view. When push comes to shove, the GOP, like the Democrats, is all about splitting up the political spoils and the citizenry be damned. And that isn’t going to change because of the nomination of Gov. Palin for VP.
That said, Sen. McCain has been playing the political game masterfully of late. His selection of Gov. Palin is something that gives conservatives, myself included, some hope for the future of conservative leadership. She has the potential to become our own American version of Margaret Thatcher. In this extremely bizarre election, I will most likely vote for the Vice Presidential candidate and ignore the Presidential candidate she’s running with.
Among other things, watching the gentle and respectful way that Senator McCain put the flower on the 9/11 memorial, as compared to Senator Obama, showed who the patriot is, imo.
