A spokesman for Sen. Barack Obama's campaign is taking the Chicago Sun-Times to task for reporting on a verbal slip Obama made referring to "my Muslim faith."

Another point. . .Obama is very practiced at wearing a mask. He shows just how 'adept' he is; whereby his facial muscles do not change; eyes do not 'flynch' - but his words betray him as they spill out in a jumble as he tries to make sense of what he just said. In the end; he does not succeed in 'making sense'; and it usually goes unchallenged.

After Stephanopolis corrects Obama; he does not 'betray himself'; but after first five words of 'splainging himself'; an interpreter is necessary. Obama falters and falls - albeit smoothly and effortlessly - to the nonsensical.

(Challenge any Obamafan to tell us what in the world - or 'where' Obama ends up, at the end of his 'correction' re his Muslim Faith.)

This is false. He studied the koran and can still recite the Islamic call to prayer in arabic.

We should take the high road on this one.

I thoroughly disagree on this one, gf. We should be looking for what is true about this unknown man who is so close to becoming our president.

Every bit of evidence should be weighed.

That should include his joining a radical liberal Christian denomination, his muslim background, his offering of a muslim day in his legislative district, his association to Ayers, etc.

In short, everything is fair game.

Good point. Certain characteristics are so fundamental to who we are that it is hard to understand how we'd goof on them.

These "gaffes" should certainly be taken full advantage of. The Democrats have excoriated Republicans since Quayle over these things. Barry can't talk more than a minute without putting his foot in his mouth and Biden is just as bad. Absofreakinglutely take advantage of it.

The interesting thing here is that if you remove what he said (Muslim) and replace it with Christian, the statement makes no sense. Why would McCain come after Barry because of his Christian faith? And it's not taken out of context because Stephanopoulos corrects him.

Hussein Obama does not act like a Christian and the Church he has gone to for 20 years doesn’t seem to be a Christian Church to me...........

Barack Obama had a Muslim father, which as far as Islam is concerned makes him a Muslim for life, any deviation from which brings an automatic death penalty. He spent at least four of his most formative years learning the Koran in Arabic at a madrassa in Indonesia. Given the upbringing, to call what he said in that tape a potential Freudian slip, even out of context, is entirely appropriate. This is reinforced by three observations: First, his 20-year membership in Jeremiah Wright's racist church was admittedly for political, not religious reasons (per his own writing and the Saul Alinsky model). Second, it is permitted for a Muslim to lie and/or pretend conversion as long as it is done for the faith, while a true conversion, particularly to Judeo-Christianity, brings an automatic death sentence. Finally, and as confirmation of the prior, to my knowledge, no fatwa against Barack Obama for his supposed conversion to Christianity has been issued by any Muslim cleric on earth, no matter how radical, despite his public profession to be a Christian (his many close associations with prominent black Muslims notwithstanding). Indeed, he was endorsed today by Mr. Ahmadinejad.
