MSNBC tried a bold experiment this year by putting two politically incendiary hosts, Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews, in the anchor chair to lead the cable news channels coverage of the election.
That experiment appears to be over.
After months of accusations of political bias and simmering animosity between MSNBC and its parent network NBC, the channel decided over the weekend that the NBC News correspondent and MSNBC host David Gregory would anchor news coverage of the coming debates and election night. Mr. Olbermann and Mr. Matthews will remain as analysts during the coverage.
The change which comes in the home stretch of the long election cycle is a direct result of tensions associated with the channels perceived shift to the political left.
The most disappointing shift is to see the partisan attitude move from prime time into whats supposed to be straight news programming, said Davidson Goldin, formerly the editorial director of MSNBC and a co-founder of the reputation management firm DolceGoldin.

As a Chiefs fan, I agree.
What a waste. The first quarter of the first game.
Sorry it was my guys who did it.
BWAHAHAHA .... they’re hedging their bets ... BWAHAHAHA
Love it. McCain, you glorious bastard!
“Earlier tonight on Sunday Night Football he was talking about how handsome he thinks Tony Romo is.”
Sum bich, I’m gotta throw up now.
The media's treatment of Palin is a part of the equation, and Keith and Chris are two of the main culprits.
Didn't I hear that there were reports that MSNBC had hand selected people to talk to in the crowd on the last night of convention, that with the press passes who knows what went on.
David Gregory is a little twerp. I’m sure youtube has clips of him going after the White Housse
ROFLMB(Arack)O
Are we sure it’s reassigned?
I wonder how they’ll present this to the MSNBC audience?
OMG- they must be exploding at Dail Kos and DU!!!
No kidding, and this is after months of following the news as if I were hearing it broadcast to me as propaganda from a tinny-sounding loudspeaker outside the worker's barracks in a Soviet-era gulag.
I kind of think they had to drop Chris, after all he just said he was running for the Senate seat, and even though it’s not for 2 more years, it would cause trouble.
I was surprised he made that mistake.
I noted similarly after the astonishing Sally Quinn 180 degree backflip on BOR the other night. The incredible performance by Sarah, combined with the amazing crowds at M/P rallies, the new polls (which I’m sure the MSM had insight into) - all indicate that the train has left the station and it’s not going to Nobamaland. And, even being ideologues, these MSM folks are first and foremost whores for money and power. Imagine if Hurricane Sarah continues to wreak havoc on the left through Nov 4th. Might be hard for them to get interviews and exposure - translate, ratings and money - as evidenced by McCain’s breathtakingly refreshing tendency of late to stick it to these folks and not kowtow to them. As others have observed, some component of this might be directions from the Nobama-fuhrer relating to the horrendous backlash he’s suffering at the hands of the crude, despicable performance by his MSM sycophants.
It wasn’t big enough for the both of them? Who was sitting on whom? No, wait, never mind. I don’t want to know. And Gregory is supposed to be some sort of improvement?
Olbermann is on NBC right now...doing football stuff.
Shesh...it would have been a great day, McCain “up by 10”, the two MSNBC ass monkeys demoted but a frivilious sporting event ruins the day, damn it.
Sports are just for fun and I am real happy about these two stories......ugh, the one diversion of all the seriousness has to be such a bummer now, oh well.
Snoopy dance time!
Gallup headlines the Registered Voters polls but their Likely voter polls are almost always +6 to +7 for the Republican ticket, year in and year out.
Is there a brave freeper who could wade into dummyland and report an unbiased report back to us?
:)
My guess is that, in addition to hideous ratings and a plethora of complaints from viewers, these two idiots also received a big "F" in their report cards from Brokaw and the other seniors on staff. In the end, Olberman was biting everyone in sight, like a demented poodle.
