" I’m a hard core conservative but this photo means nothing really, non issue, sorry."

How about all the photos of the flags tossed in garbage bags? You may not think it matters, but it's an opportunity to zing the Democrats on their lack of respect for the flag. If the Dems and their liberal ilk in the media can fabricate issues to attack Republicans on, turnabout is fair play my friend. The difference is, this issue wasn't fabricated. The pictures tell the true story. Beating the Democrats at their own game is always a good thing.

Yep. Before we try to turn this molehill into a mountain, we better make sure there are no similar pictures of Republicans in the proximity of discarded toy flags.

Oddly enough there were very few flags at all at the Republican convention. If the positions were reversed, I dare say that people would be accusing the dems of being unpatriotic for their lack of flags.

Dems trash U.S. flags at DNC convention

(from WorldNetDaily)

Photo courtesy Denver Post blog page

Following their national convention in Denver last week, Democratic organizers heaped up thousands of unused U.S. flags, allegedly to throw them away, but the McCain campaign has since salvaged the Star-Spangled Banners for reuse at a rally in Colorado Springs.

A Denver Post blog reports that a vendor at Denver's Invesco Field discovered the discarded flags following Barack Obama's nomination speech at the mile-high stadium last week.

Democratic organizers have claimed that the flags were not meant to be thrown in the trash, but according to a Fox News report, McCain supporters claim the vendor found the bagged flags in and around garbage bins following the Democratic National Convention.

A group of Boy Scouts brought 84 garbage bags full of the discarded flags to the site of a Republican rally in Colorado Springs today, where veterans distributed them throughout the assembled crowd. McCain supporters waved the recycled flags and chanted "U.S.A." as they welcomed Republican candidate John McCain and his running mate, Sarah Palin.

The Post blog reports an estimated total of 12,000 small flags and one, full-size 3'x5' flag were discarded. Damon Jones, spokesman for the Democratic National Convention Committee, released a statement claiming that McCain supporters has swiped leftover bundles of flags from the stadium "to play out a cheap political stunt" calling into question Democrat patriotism.

Patriotic symbolism has been a thorn in the side of the DNC and Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama throughout the campaign. As WND reported earlier, credentials for the national convention drew attention for portraying the elements of the U.S. flag upside down.

Earlier in the campaign, Sen. Obama was photographed with Gov. Bill Richardson, Sen. Hillary Clinton and Ruth Harkin at a steak fry for Iowa Sen. Tom Harkin during the playing of the national anthem. Richardson, Clinton and Harkin placed their hands over their hearts, but Obama is standing casually with his fingers laced in front of him. He also previously said he doesn't wear an American flag lapel pin because it has become a substitute for "true patriotism."

To an Iowa television station, the Illinois senator explained he stopped wearing a flag pin following the 9/11 attacks. "I decided I won't wear that pin on my chest," he told the station. "Instead, I'm going to try to tell the American people what I believe will make this country great."

I want pictures. In this day and age of cell phones with cameras, surely someone has a picture of these 84 bags heaped into and around the trash dumpster. I saw two pictures in another thread where one pic had one bag of trash and the other pic was one bag of clean items in a bag and neatly placed by a chair.

” the flag is merely a stage prop” Bingo!
You have certainly nailed the reason this photo is indeed significant. Even the alpha #2 among literally scores of thousands of democrat dignataries treated it as such. One understands that had the Rocky Mountain Funeral Home provided cardboard fans they would have held more actual worth to this conregation.

Agreed, this is a non-issue and raising it makes us look as petty as they do.

No need to raise the issue. Just enjoy the publication of the photo.

Senator Barack Obama, Governor Bill Richardson, Senator Hillary Clinton and Ruth Harkin stand during the national anthem.

Some supporters have suggested that perhaps the picture does not tell the whole story and that he may have raised his hand shortly after it was taken.

An ABC News video, however, shows that Senator Obama did not salute at any time during the Anthem and that everybody else on the platform did.

That’s because the Dem Party IS INDEED un-patriotic when compared to the Republicans.

I would hate to think that we would win by using some unflattering photos which cannot tell the whole story and not on ideas for the country. Yes a picture is worth a thoudand words butremember Dems have cameras too. And the media is on their side

We can beat them on the issues and beat them senselessly.

Does anyone know for how long Yahoo typically leaves their news photos up on their site?

False dichotomy.

Where would one get the idea that we must win on this photo OR on issues?

The photo speaks for itself.

This picture is worrisome. Taken by itself it wouldn’t mean much, but there’s a pattern here . . . His casual comments about why he doesn’t wear a flag pin, his trip abroad giving Europeans and enemy countries the satisfaction of hearing him belittle America and her motives, and the biggest warning of all, his early associations with America haters in Hawaii and Chicago.

To be fair, sometimes Obama does put his hand over his heart and sometimes he doesn’t. Kind of a mixed bag.

Images of the flag get put on address labels all the time.

Can you see a distinction between "images of the flag" and "the flag?"

Maybe someone threw it at him and missed.

It must've been a short person with bad eyesight, standing under his chair.

First, many do not know flag ettiquite...

Hold it right there. Biden is not one of the "many".

Biden is a U.S. Senator. I learned flag etiquette (note the spelling, BTW) in the Boy Scouts. It took me about 15 minutes, and it has stayed with me all my life. Maybe that is because I care about my country.

If Joe Biden doesn't know, can't be bothered to learn (in his 35 years in the Senate), or just doesn't care about, flag etiquette he is disrespecting the entire nation.

It is an important issue. He wants to represent the U.S., but doesn't respect it.
