Investigation into Palin Now on Fast Track
ABC ^ | September 5, 2008 | Len Tepper, DNC Hack

ABC News has exclusively learned that Alaska Senator Hollis French will announce today that he is moving up the release date of his investigation into whether Gov. Sarah Palin abused her office to get the Alaska public safety commissioner, Walt Monegan, fired. The results of the investigation were originally scheduled for release Oct. 31 but will now come almost three weeks earlier, according to sources. The announcement is set for 9 a.m. AKDT time. The Alaska state senator running an investigation of Gov. Palin had accused the McCain campaign of using stall tactics to prevent him from releasing his final report by Oct. 31, four days before the November election. "It's likely to be damaging to the Governor's administration," said Senator Hollis French, a Democrat, appointed the project manager for a bi-partisan State Senate Legislative Counsel Committee investigation. Palin, who has denied any wrongdoing and has said she has nothing to hide, has hired private lawyers to represent her in the matter.

What's is the worst that will happen to Governor Palin over this issue?

Other than negative press and publicity (and its impact on the election), there's not a lot they could do. Maybe, MAYBE pass a vote in the Alaska legislature to censure her.

It's a lot like Bush 'firing' the US Attorneys...at the end of the day, he has the right to do it without cause, even if it makes someone unhappy.

If they wanted to damage the McCain-Palin ticket with this, they’d finish the investigation at the last possible second. I’m thinking they have figured out the traction on the story is nil, so they want to get it out of the way so folks will forget the attack by election day.

Even if there was any official pressure, the sympathy factor for Palin’s family because of the POS trooper is very high.

I actually think this is great! The media just made Sarah Palin a superstar overnight by their bash fest and now the Dems are going after her on false ethics charges.

This will backfire worse than the past few days. If you think she has fans now, then wait until she is falsely “tarred and feathered.”

Women (no not liberal women) will be livid of the treatment and she will get more supporters than ever.

Dems, don’t throw her into the “briar patch.”

There is no abuse!!! The Commissioner serves at the pleasure of the Governor.

I'm sure that Senator Hollis French will see that Palin gets a fair and unbiased investigation. /s

It won’t be about the truth, it will be about the spin the dems can put on it.

I hope the pub members of the “bi-partisan” investigation group have the balls to go toe to toe with the ugly dems.

BTW - If McCain/Palin play it right, this issue could be a postive for them. Go after the “slash and burn”, “mud slinging”, character assasination”, “politics of personal destruction”, “win at any cost” sexist dems, scream it loud and scream it long.

If the report is damaging and the release of this report is intended to damage, moving the release date up would effectively work to mitigate the damage, I would think.

If the intent is again to damage a candidate, the report release date would be kept closer to the election. Or am I missing something?

The closer a hit is to an election, the less time there is for the news to pass and be handled.

Case in point, the 11th hour GWB DUI disclosure back in 2000.

But then maybe they are worried that the Large Hadron Collider will destroy the world on October 31st and tie up the news cycle.

A radio talk show host mentioned that some documents regarding the board they sat on were released last week but no one is paying attention.

The univ of chicago opened its archives to researchers several weeks ago. I'd guess we've heard nothing since there's nothing worth mentioning in them.

L'il Hollis is an ObamaBot:

“Senator Obama has a plan to end our dependence on foreign oil and reduce skyrocketing energy prices,” said Senator Hollis French of Anchorage, a former oil rig worker. “Having worked in the oil business in Alaska for twelve years, I know firsthand the importance of oil and natural gas to Alaska. Senator Obama will not only invest in renewable fuels and increase car fuel efficiency standards, he strongly supports construction of an Alaska natural gas pipeline and accelerated drilling in the Alaska National Petroleum Reserve which will provide affordable energy to Alaska and our country and good jobs for Alaskans.”

Such an unbiased "investigator."

What corrupt fools these Democrats are.

Look for the union label...

Alaska trooper’s union files an ethics complaint against Palin

Meanwhile, NYS's own Troopergate goes uncovered.

Go figure.

Straight up in his nether parts

I suspect there's nothing there to worry about.

I expect this investigation to get off to a roaring start. However, as with every other attack on Palin, the chickens will come home to roost. An unhealthy prospect with mortors.

“But John Cyr, executive director of the Public Safety Employees Association, which represents the Alaska State Troopers, opines that it’s a battle over funding. Palin has called for cuts to the public safety budget, while Monegan wanted more troopers.”

“Hollis French”

Really! No way...really!

This guy looks exactly like the kind of guy that was always picked last for everything from dodge ball to football...I hope he doesn’t wet himself getting this close to a real man like John McCain...hell, Sahra probably scares the liv’n S#@$ out of him...

His bio says he was in the Marine Corps Reserve from 1977-1978...surprising — I wonder why that time was so short with no amplifying information about his service — “things that make you go — hhhhhuuuummmm.

Guy has too many names to be trusted. An old trick in Alaska was to wait until everyone who couldn't quite get to a bank had bought dozens of money orders to tide them over the winter.

This left the local post office safe full of cash that couldn't be collected until Spring (when the ice broke and planes could land).

Slick locals would figure out how to rob the post office and abscond with the community's cash reserves.

The perpetrator would typically move a few hundred miles to another isolated hamlet out in the wilds and add a new name (to hide his true identity).

So, what I'd like to know is how many post offices this Hollis guy has robbed.

Just like the Dems to hold a woman down. I'm sure this woman hating state senator will have his feet held to the fire by the media and feminists everywhere ....not!

If this is the big October surprise, we win going away.
