It has nothing to do with color. It has to do with national identity and culture. We cannot assimilate the kinds of numbers now coming in, especially since most are poor and uneducated. We are creating a permanent underclass. 87% of the 1.2 million LEGAL IMMIGRANTS who enter annually are minorities who qualify for such things as affirmative action, minority business set asides etc. We are importing poverty. As Milton Friedman said, "As long as you have a welfare state, I do not believe you can have a unilateral open immigration." FYI: Most of the immigrants vote Democrat, which will make them the permanent majority party.
Currently, the out of wedlock birth rates for Hispanics is 50%, topped only by the rate for blacks of 68%. Hispanics and blacks have the highest school dropout rates nearing 50%. In CA one in four students drops out and in LA, it is one in three. This is the social pathology for failure in this society.

I agree that she may not be perfect, but this is a good first step. She is the kind of person and the kind of story that could’ve been any of us. For years we’ve been complaining how Washington doesn’t understand us, and with Sarah Palin, we have someone from “normal” society. She’s not a lawyer, she’s not Ivy League (or Ivy League-esq) trained, and she embraces her family and their challenges rather than duck into a hotel bathroom to avoid them.
We are putting a lot into this ticket, and we need to let them know who is electing them and who is being forced to swallow a big pill in order to do so. I’m willing to wait one more round because I think 2012 could be a very special election.
Evidentally, McCain did not impress patriciaruth. My point is we have to stay unified. Fight with him later, but never to the point that we allow our President to be torn to shreds like President Bush has been by the left.
