I think I would barf if I had that conversation.

.

Here’s how I’ve been bumping Palin/Obama threads.

Sung to the tune of “Oh! Susanna, don’t you cry for me.”

“Oh, no Bama, please don’t lie to me... for I’m off to Free Republic with a laptop on my knee.”

I come from Minnesota with my laptop on my knee;
I’m goin’ to Free Republic my true love for to see.
It rained all night the day I left,
the weather it was dry;
The sun so hot I froze to death,
Obama don’t you lie.

Oh! No Bama, don’t you lie to me;
I come from Minnesota,
with my laptop on my knee.

I had a dream the other night,
When everything was still;
I thought I saw Obama dear,
A-coming for The Hill.
The smearing lie was in Duluth,
The tear was in his eye,
Said I, I’m coming for the truth
Obama don’t you lie.

Oh! No Bama, don’t you lie to me;
I’m off to Free Republic,
with my laptop on my knee.

I fight in my pajamas,
It’s plain for all to see.
I aim to be the next Buckhead;
The media all hate me.
I fell in love with Sarah
When my sister bit a moose.
The Guvnor’s family ate it up
And then they set it loose.

Oh! No Bama, don’t you lie to me;
I’m off to Free Republic,
with my laptop on my knee.

She loves her sons, she likes her guns,
and Trigonometry.
The media will jump the shark
When Juan makes history.
Well, JimRob knows she’ll pave the trolls
So controversially,
And Berg will knock Obama down
With friends of Hillary.

Oh! No Bama, don’t you lie to me;
I’m off to Free Republic with a laptop on my knee.

I soon will be in Hawaii,
And then I’ll look all ‘round,
And when I find his birth record,
I’ll fall upon the ground.
But if I do not find it,
This Freeper’ll surely die,
And when I’m dead and buried,
Obama don’t you lie.

Oh! No Bama, don’t you cry for me;
I’m off to Free Republic with a laptop on my knee

Anybody that gripes about this obviously has never raised a teenager in this century. I think most of them are lucky to survive with all their limbs to get married.

By the grace of God I was spared. This is the "socialization" that the home schoolers miss.

"Don't they have birth control up in Alaska?" she asked....

Birth control only works when you use it, and even then, not always. Two of my bro-in-law's five kids are condom babies.

To accept Froma’s “logic”, we must assume that:

1) No one who is unmarried EVER has sex. You are a psychological deviant if you do;

2) Electing to keep the child of a premarital sexual relationship (rather than have an abortion) is a social view that will “hurt the ticket”;

3) Ditto marrying the father;

4) You are a cretin who deserves no forgiveness, ever, if you make a mistake. In fact, you are defiant and stupid for even trying to support your mother during her internationally-televised speech at the Republican National Convention. Go get back in your cage.

As I read this article, I couldn’t help thinking of Dan Aykroyd on Saturday Night Live “Point/Counter-point” chiding Jane Curtain with “Jane, you ignorant slut.”

"Don't they have birth control up in Alaska?" she asked....

Too bad this waste of oxygens mom didn't use it.

This wouldn’t be a hit piece if the daughter had had an abortion - it would be a love fest for Palin.

Froma Harrop that was a nice hit piece.

Sorry, your so-called Republican Leaning Independent sounds more like a far-left Obama supporter.

Better check the credentials of your friends before making these statements.

I always get a kick out of these people who call themselves fiscal & foreign affairs conservatives but are “liberal” on social issues. They insist that social issues aren’t important, and they don’t understand why pro-life, pro-family people make such a big deal out of them. But then they threaten to vote for a socialist candidate who hates the military because of those same issues. But if those issues aren’t important, why can’t they just overlook the fact that Palin is a social conservative?

I had dinner last night with a Republican-leaning independent who was despondent over John McCain's choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate.

I see your Republican-leaning independent and raise you three Bob Casey Senior Democrats.

Froma, Froma, Froma, unless you are willing to name names in articles like this, unfortunately we don't believe you. We don't have to believe you, you have to convince us that you are right and we are wrong. Bitch.

But all she could now see was that picture of Palin's pregnant 17-year-old looking defiant and stupid as she held mom's fifth baby.

I'm sure that's exactly how steve-b and the liberal-tarian wing of the GOP was feeling. Someone like Sarah Palin, with all those wretched children, is an affront to them.

I suppose you'll be pulling the lever for Bob Barr in November, Stevey?

You see this on DU all the time. Anecdotal evidence passed off as scientific strategic information. "My mother's boss's wife, who voted for Bush in (insert year here) just (called, emailed, wrote, Pony Expressed) how much they hate (insert Republican here) because of (insert unsubstantiated rumor here). They even said they would be voting for (insert Dem candidate here) and it will be the first time they ever voted Democrat!!!11!1!"

Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has five children, but she waited until they were grown before she ran for high political office.

I call BS based on the following from Pelosi's approved biography:

No matter how busy she was at home, Pelosi always volunteered for the Democratic party during election campaigns. In 1976 she worked for the presidential campaign of California's popular governor, Jerry Brown (1938–).

She would've had several young children at home, including the youngest who would've been 7 while Nan was out working the precincts.

This person in the article was a left-wing extremist.

You’re hilarious, steve-b.

Don’t worry, FReepers- if there’s an anti Palin article out there, steve-b will make sure we see it here on FR.

I’m a firm believer in learning about candidates warts and all- koolaide is way too sweet for my tastes.

You just keep on sowing those seeds of doubt...the fresh air Palin is bringing to the GOP is blowing those seeds into a dry wind.

Gee, aint America grand? Dimwitted fools like Froma Harrop makes large bucks with totally misguided, ignorant analyses like this while I have three years to go to retirement making a lot less. Like every abortion-rights-trumps-everything feminist this nitwit thinks McCain picked Palin to win her over. Hey Froma!!! He did it to get the base back you hapless twerpette. If there are voters who were going to choose McCain because he’s the maverick they’ve been looking for, I doubt too many are going to ditch him for picking Palin. In short getting back the base is far more important to McCain than trying to woo a few dissatified Hillary backers or moderates.
