Wow, Wow, a Thousand Times Wow

What did we see tonight?

Tonight, we either saw a watershed in American politics, a tour de force, the most striking and graceful debut in our nation’s political life, and a national introduction that makes Barack Obama’s 2004 convention address look like small potatoes… or we saw what we wanted to see, and the country’s persuadable independents saw something else. I’m afraid to believe. If I’m wrong, I don’t really know what Americans want. I know conservatives are thrilled to pieces, and they ought to be. She knocked it out of the park. I don’t think she could have delivered that speech any better. Even if I hadn’t suggested a line, I would say that the speech hit almost every note just right. (Did the Obama fans feel this way? Is this what their exultation feels like? Wonderful. I’m glad they get to experience it too.)

My e-mail box is thrilled. Cam's Talkbackers are thrilled — "you called down the thunder, and now ya have it."

And how about that adorable little Piper—waving to everyone. What a little trouper!

My hubby, SirKit, and I just howled when the camera was on Piper while she was holding Trig, and she stuck her hand up to her mouth, licked it, and wiped his head, pasting his hair down! It was just precious!

Folks wonder how Sarah Palin handles 5 kids, well that's how it's done, by getting ALL the kids, even the younger ones, involved in the care of the baby. It's how large families have done it for centuries!

I liked Charles Krauthammer’s observation that it wasn’t just chunks of red meat she was throwing at the audience, it was like a cow was being slaughtered onstage!

but I think it would be good for McCain to be made well aware who people really want in office.

When you donate, put Sarah Palin's name as the person by whom you were referred.

If John sticks to his promise of a single term, he’s just groomed the Republican candidate for President of the United States in 2012.

I've never heard him make such a promise. Wouldn't bother me if he stayed 8 years, then Sarah took over. NO ONE could say anything about any inexperience on her part, then. But it wouldn't surprise me to see him groom her over the next four years, then decide not to run again, supporting her to succeed him.

She started off well, but then...she got better. I thought I could see her growing, she seemed to get more and more confident, I could swear her voice quality was improving the longer she spoke.

When you speak in front of a crowd, especially so if you are a little nervous or feeling a little off, the start tends to be awkward. It is hard to find that grove. That sweet spot where you have fully connected with the crowd. Guilliani was in it the whole time. Thompson was in it most of the time. Palin got into it about 1/3 of the way into her speech. That is when everyone began thinking she was just having a down home conversation with them. Obama is too much of a preacher talking at everyone. And you really have to believe what you are speaking about to ever have a chance of hitting that sweet spot.

C-Span/Redstate.com reporting that the teleprompter was broken last night and Sarah winged it.

Speaking while reading from a teleprompter or reading printed material is easier then winging it, but its very difficult to read text while also connecting with the crowd on a personal level. Whatever happened it worked for her, but you could tell she was a little nervous at the start and that is perfectly understandable given the circumstances. During the middle section she started really connecting. The fact that she was able to stand out after Guiliani’s performance really says a lot.

Hope that it will teach freepers to disregard the P.D.S. (Palin Derangement Syndrome) afflicted, negative ninnies that seemed to ooze out of the woodwork here at Free Republic parroting the negative media lies.

The Alaska delegation said it sounded just like her.

BTW: "When she was done, my hubby, SirKit said "Obama and Biden are dead"."

The Obiden campaign will need a lot of this:

Not sure of your religious beliefs, but God truly does work in mysterious ways...could this be one? I really hope so.

Umm - it will be a beautiful ad when McCain points out that both Biden and Obama voted for the Bridge to Nowhere...talk about “judgment”

“yeah, i saw that. she had the homecoming queen on a float hand waggle going on there:) so typical of that age:):

I saw that same wave years ago when I helped escort my son’s class—American School in London—into town for the opening of Parliament. It amazed me how excruciatingly precise the preparations were and even more when Queen Elizabeth’s glass coach passed—she looked exactly like all the photos!?!—and she held her forearm motionless as she moved her hand back and forth.

So last night I was wondering if Piper had seen video of her!

On Saturday there was video of her striding right up to the crowds with her hand outstretched—a born campaigner!!!

I sent you the wrong post!

I’ve always marveled about the way the children in large families look after each other. What a charming sight, to see Piper tidying up her baby brother’s hair!

Obama on now—one of his rare press conferences—back to his er, er, eh, stammering...

“Gov. Palin has been doing this for 4 days, I’ve been doing this for 18 months”.

Hey Dude, she campaigned for Mayor and Governor and she’s going to campaign circles around you!
