Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, John McCain's surprise vice-presidential pick, is the subject of a legislative probe into claims that she abused her office by trying to get her former brother-in-law fired from his job as an Alaska state trooper.
A look at the Alaska governor and why she is a maverick VP choice.

Palin is likely to be deposed soon in the case, according to State Sen. Hollis French, who leads the state Senate's Legislative Counsel Committee.
French's committee unanimously authorized an investigation into the dismissal of the state's public safety commissioner, Walt Monegan, who claims he balked at pressure to remove Trooper Mike Wooten, who had an acrimonious divorce from Palin's sister.

Thanks for the ping, Ernest!
PrincessB (in response to your post...):
Not to mention that her ex-brother-in-law (the cop) also threatened to kill Palin's father (Mr. Heath), and that the Alaskan "Secret Service" (those in charge of protecting the Governor) declared him a "Viable threat to her safety and that of her family". Plus, he shot a moose without a permit, and I had read one article that said he also got drunk IN his cop car. How this man kept his badge - and his GUN - I will never understand... Well, actually, I DO know how it happened -- he was placed on suspension, but the LEO Union up there decided that that was "TOO HARSH" and got it reduced to 5 days.
The "Old Boy" network that Palin has worked so hard to get rid of has protected this bad cop. AND, due to their anger (probably because their pockets are lighter cause she kicked out some of the corrupt), they are attacking her to get revenge. The Republicans who are pulling this crap in Alaska against Palin should be kicked out of the party, IMHO (if they could be...).
I would love to see this turned around on the MSM & the Left -- "I thought you all were for women's rights, and against violence perpetrated against women & children. You are??? Then, WHY are you defending a CHILD ABUSER, and someone who threatened to KILL the Governor's Father if he helped his daughter get a lawyer to help her divorce his butt."
Besides all of that -- she didn't fire the other guy because of her brother-in-law. She fired him due to problems with his incompetence in filing Trooper Vacancy paperwork. She even offered him a position in another area of her administration which he TURNED DOWN. AND, she didn't even NEED a reason to fire this guy no matter what because he served "at the pleasure" of the Governor...

CNN is interviewing Palin’s sister - it’s the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen a “journalist” do. Private citizens are off limits - just like children - but there’s CNN - with all the ethics of a street whore.
