Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, John McCain's surprise vice-presidential pick, is the subject of a legislative probe into claims that she abused her office by trying to get her former brother-in-law fired from his job as an Alaska state trooper.
Palin is likely to be deposed soon in the case, according to State Sen. Hollis French, who leads the state Senate's Legislative Counsel Committee.
French's committee unanimously authorized an investigation into the dismissal of the state's public safety commissioner, Walt Monegan, who claims he balked at pressure to remove Trooper Mike Wooten, who had an acrimonious divorce from Palin's sister.

Would that be the same Trooper Mike Wooten who was caught driving under the influence twice, but was taken home by the officers, and who tasered an 11 year old step-child? Is that the Mike Wooten we are talking about?
I’m so glad that Mike Wooten is so important that ABC News is protecting him. He’s a real role model to look up to, so much more than the Governor. /sssssss/
I wonder how many 6 figure checks were sent to Alaska by George Soros and Peter Lewis (Progressive Auto Insurance) this week.
French is democrat. Does anyone think he is an impartial investigator?
Thanks for pointing that out!
And had she NOT tried to get this Trooper off the force, I can only guess what the headline would have been instead?
“Palin uses influence to keep rogue brother-in-law trooper on force.”
Since every article giving any facts that I’ve seen has arisen out of the MSM (and therefore highly unlikely to contain much actual truth), could someone give a brief recap as to what this is all about? Or direct me to a link with reliable information here at Freep?
I am, as always, in your collective debt.
Of course not. And this hit piece is loaded with negative prompts like “investigation,” “probe,” and “deposed,” weasel words that were never used when the press helped the Clintons fend off their multitude of scandals.
Get caught up on the FACTS!!!
To ABC News As Steven Segal once said “Is that all you got?”
This is Obama’s Willie Horton, and the 527’s are waiting for the right time folks.
This is the reason that Obama is risking a appearance on Bill O’Reilly, to defuse the upcoming Bill ayers story.
Of course, the article won't tell you that he's a Dem.
*Or more likely, "-as the mayor of a tiny little town", since her status as a governor with 80% approval ratings is being downplayed.
As I said in an earlier thread, I was listening to a local radio show (Brad and Britt Show on 101.1 WZTK- Burlington, NC http://www.fmtalk1011.com/showdj.asp?DJID=22542) this morning and Brian Ross of ABC was the guest. He was intimating that they have people digging all over Alaska and if they can prove just one of the leads they are hearing then Palin and the GOP are finished. Of course, this was said with glee and received with such as well.
Only in your wildest wet dream ‘All Barack Channel’...
Yada-Yada-Yada!
I hope these 'diggers' all visit the wrong bar.
Means nothing since Walt Monegan served at her pleasure and she could have fired him for combing his hair in a way she didn’t like.
Unlike some other GOP pols. I’d bet that Palin says “I’d fired his ass. He served at my pleasure. I don’t have to give any reason or justification. If you don’t like it, sue me!”
More lack of MSM’s concern for kids. If this guy tasered the 11 year old son. Isn’t this Sarah Palin’s nephew? What do these morons expect?
The state legislature doesn’t have the authority to conduct the witch hunt/investigation, period. End of story. Let the Commission authorized to conduct the investigation do its job.
Only if it wasn’t Gay or Black....or maybe Native Indian....
