And as depressing as it is, the fact of the matter is that after 8 years of a party’s administration, the other party usually wins. Do I think McCain can win, yes? Do I think McCain will win, yes? I, personally think the debates will be where we see McCain pull ahead.
I'm disgusted that someone too stupid and lazy to do basic research for themselves dares to post on FR.
The whole process of polling is extremely flawed..
and should be illegal.. Polls themselves can effect Sheeple..
I hope that the McCain campaign as they write these speeches for her has the wit to seize on an affirmative theme and not play defense respecting her experience level for the job. Nor should this should be a get acquainted speech rather it should be a hard-hitting action oriented speech emphasizing her vision of rooting out corruption, eliminating waste, and checking spending on the federal level as she did in Alaska.
Her single concession to the issue of qualification for the job should be by way of humor to demonstrate that she has more experience than does Barak Obama. Like Reagan's crack about his own age compared to his opponent's youthand inexperience, this could end the issue forever.
They should never again permit her to appear on the platform as she did in Missouri without her hair being attractively arranged in a professional looking manner.
Her speech advisers must get her to pitch her voice lower and pace the delivery. She must never forget that although she will be making her speech to a convention full of roaring Republicans her real audience is sitting at home in a quiet room and wants to hear someone whose voice timbre suggests she can step into the ultimate role if it comes to that. She did not appear to good effect in these histrionic concerns in her Missouri appearance. Content is even less important than form and self-assurance.
In other words, the acceptance speech and the stump speech, the hairdo and the voice control are only important as means to demonstrate that Governor Palin has the requisite gravitas to play in the big leagues.
She gets one chance in her acceptance speech and the whole election could actually turn on it.
Despite all the national attention that has been focused on Sarah Palin, public perceptions of the Alaska Governor have changed little in the last few days. She is still viewed favorably by just over half of all voters. A separate survey found that Obama is number one and Palin number two on the list of candidates people would like to meet.
Basing anything on numbers out of a 3 day holiday weekend is amusing.
All we know is that the post election bump is no accounted for, and its not much. By the same time next week we’ll know where the race stands post the RNC.
I don’t care what race it is, I would never read into a poll taking over a 3 day holiday weekend to reflect an accurate state of anything.
What we do see is the post convention bounce, and its not much of one.
Exactly. I was as liberal as they come before the Clarence Thomas hearings.
Then I realized that my fellow libs were a nasty bunch.
Hypocritical Libs were eager to abandon their pretense that privacy was of the utmost importance, if it meant they could destroy Thomas by revealing he watched porn tapes.
I couldn't remain in a party that skewered a person just because he might defend the unborn.
This is what this contest is coming down to...
The right to life vs the right to cause pain by maiming, crushing, chemically burning and stabbing unborn children
It could not be any starker.
“The pregnancy of Palin’s daughter is gonna hurt McCain ticket..... simply because a teen pregnancy goes against everything the Republican Party stands for.”
Exactly. No one wants to say too mauch about it. Obama scares people ... As fod Dad being DUI, well, what could would think highly of themself when they’re “Mr. Mom” with a single preggie daughter and Mom’s not around and too busy? Just because people aren’t talking about it doesn’t mean they aren’t thinking about it ... .
“...tells us that Obamas Dem support rate is very close to McCains GOP support rate.”
Gallup’s discussion today says exactly that. For the first time, BHO is getting the same support from Dems as McCain’s getting from Reps.
The GOP needs a heckuva convention, which is going to be hard to do with Hurricane Hanna for the MSM to talk about, when they’re not talking about Palin’s support for abstinence-only sex education.
Palin’s personable and she handles herself well. Were I McCain, I’d get her out on the chick show circuit and let her state her case to Oprah and the View nags, Regis and whatshername, etc... If she’s gonna pull PUMAs, she needs to go where they are and state her case.
Yes that news was unsettling. It took the bloom off the rose.
Even my ultra conservative 49 year old daughter, who works for our local Republican party, was upset...We're hoping that Sarah can keep up her enthusiasm...it's not easy when you know your daughter is hurting, and Bristol has to be hurting with her condition blasted all over the news...
and what about her boyfriend...he and his parents can't be too happy about all the hoopla either.
If Sarah hits a home run with her speech Wednesday night, and I sure hope she does, it will be wonderful, and in a week or two this will be old news.
Not at all.
I am as solid a conservative as anyone here.
But that said, I should have double checked instead of relying on the newspaper's headline "recently."
Here's the link. I plan to raise hell, and others should also.

This newspaper used to lean right, but they have lost all their common sense writers.... and now have only Democrat supporting lefties.
I know, because I used to work there.
Curious - were you a “liberal” because you thought the intentions of the ideology were basically good?
ROTFLMAO!!!! Dude, do you really think you're fooling anybody, pretending to be a concerned conservative? :-D
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
You only posted this poll because it jives with your wishful thinking. Why are you here after such a long time gone to do Obama’s spin work?
OMG, it too nearly 4 days for the DNC bounce to show up in the polls, but you think the pregnancy anouncement on a HOLIDAY weekend swung polls instantly?
You are certifiable if you think that.
Next week by tuesday we’ll know the state of the race at this point, the RNC convention will be over, and the bounce from that will be showing up in the polling.
Until then all you can say about the polling since thursday is the DNC convention gave Fauxbama a small bounce, which is to be expected. To write anything more into the numbers than that is insanity.
I don’t know what you were doing this holiday weekend, but most folks I know weren’t sitting around answering pollers questions.
This is a likely voter poll.
The RNC will also get a bounce from their convention.
IT appears that the race will continue to be neck in neck.
This is the intentional lying and propagandist left wing Trentonian that distorts for the left.

Hit, hit em hard fast, hit em now!
Nah, the MSM is too busy looking into Governor Palin. The Republican VP slot is way to important to dismiss.
I mean, it’s not like Senator Obama has any skeletons in his closet the MSM should pay attention to... /sarc
(I counted 3 MSM hit pieces this morning on MSN, all from different sources...but the media is unbiased..eye roll)
