ST. PAUL -- The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

Pro-lifers are supposed to celebrate life. There is no double standard.
You should be condemning premarital sex, not teenage pregnancy.
I did not state I knew you, nor did I state you could not state your opinions. I asked you a question and I opined your statement was disgusting.
How do you know they had 2nd thoughts about getting married? Do you have a link you could provide for what their plans were and what they are now?
Again, as you stated, this is a discussion board of opinions and I’m trying to discuss your opinion.
P.S. What does JR have to do with our discussion?
!! AMEN !!
All the sinless people with sinless children please raise your hand .
The only good thing about this is that it is a shocking reminder for parents to sit down and talk to your kids. Tell them despite what they read on Free Republic having sex and getting pregnant is NOT OK. It is WRONG.
And tell them to try to have better judgement than John McCain. This will hurt him and let in BO. He is an egotist of terrible proportions.
Honor killings! That will make people vote for McCain. The libs already expect that from us, anyway.
I’m not sure what your suggestion would be. Would it go something like John McCain saying “Fellow Americans, I have selected Sarah Palin as my Vice-Presidential running mate - and by the way, her daughter Bristol is pregnant.”
//////////////
No it would be - I couldn’t choose Gov. Palin because she told me she had to take care of her family and State first.
Shouldn’t have picked her with that situation going on.
300 million folks in this country - find someone else.
What else?
You have no proof they were hiding anything.
Of course it is our business. She is running for VP of this country, not of a country club.
As the parent of a teenage daughter, I wonder how I would react in similar circumstances. I would hope that I would handle it as well as the Palins.
Most people in this country have raised a family and at one time or another either faced a similar situation or at least thought about how they would deal with it if and when it happens. Most people will look at this situation favorably with regard to the Palins.
There are a few liberal nutcases out there who will think that this somehow reflects negatively on Sarah Palin, but anyone who has been a parent knows that you can only do so much.
This will not hurt the campaign at all. It has been dealt with in the proper manner.
Add in one more really big number...The people who this easily COULD HAVE happened to.
You Rock, NavyMom1!
The world would be so much better if Myth Romney were king, eh?
Hypocrites all of them. You go and look at those religious holier than thou people and you find a lot of dirt in their personal lives or the lives of their families.
“There are far, far, far more serous issues facing the nation than this teenage girls mistake.”
You are dead wrong. Teen pregnancy is a huge social problem. HUGE. Getting pregnant is NO simple ‘Mistake”. It takes some effort.
Excellent response. Somehow, I suspect this is going to be nearly exactly what she says, and in fact how she feels.
Thank you. There is no love, like the love a mother has for her child, except for the Love of God, which he has put in our hearts.
We'll agree to disagree on this. That's not a bad thing.
Another holier than thou hypocrite. I am sure that you and all your family are pure like snow. Please let us know mortal sinners how we should live our lives.
