ST. PAUL -- The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

I disagree strongly that this will hurt McCain. I don’t see how this reflects poorly on Sarah Palin at all. Its not like she lied or tried to cover it up. True she didn’t announce it to the heavens when she first accepted the nomination. However, she had her daughter where an engagement ring on her ring finger so its not like she tried to cover it up either. The only thing that this will do is make the KOS folks look like absolute scumbags who drudged up a skeliton in her daughters closet. If anything this will endear her more to conservative Christian families because she did the right thing and encouraged her daughter to get married and have the baby.
Actually, reactions like yours cause a huge nose dive in the opinions of rational persons against self-important wonks like you.
If her daughter is pregnant, that just goes to show the corrosive influence of liberalism on the young.
We cannot fault two parents for not raising a child better, when overwhelmingly immersed in our sexually permisive society.
Obama's mother got knocked up by a man with whom she fell into deep puppy love because he was a beautiful, intelligent, smooth-talking African Negro man. And of all those adjectives the biggest of all was that he was Negro.
It was that status -- that racial status -- that became the reed around which her son built his visionary city of spite, and for which reason he from childhood determined himself to become President, and from adolescence determined himself to become so by shrewd practice of racial division and demanding of race based respect.

situation and “The Palin Family Situation” in post 1089...
My naive guess is that Bill and Hillary! MAY have had ONE child in
order to prove their “normality” and to preserve their “political
viability”...

The Palin Family advising/swaying their 17-year old (16 at the time
of conception?) daughter to do the right thing and carry the child
to term.
And not take the Obama Option of just having the child killed.

..I'm an idealist...
..and when I found out the oldest daughter (in what I considered a 'perfect family') at our church was sexually active, I was disappointed.
...Her father was in a position to be mortified as he was headmaster of the Christian school...
..Eventually, even though against the parent's wishes, she married the guy and soon after got pregnant.
When my much older and long time married daughter had her preemie baby, this same young lady had hers at the same time, same hospital...and hers was a preemie too.
By that time her husband was in Iraq.
I would sit in NICU with my tiny granddaughter and daughter and could look across the room at the young girl, her mother and their tiny one.
Both of our families cared and loved these little ones.
Her family loved and supported their daughter, but she clearly was rebellious even though brought up in a loving and wise home.
They supported her through and during the pregnancy and absence of the dad...
..and later she moved with him to his home base.
They eventually had another child....and from everything I know, are happily adjusted.
The parents did not shirk their responsibilities, nor did they allow the daughter to shirk hers.
Having said this, people WILL deal with this news in their own way...
...those who have already started building the pedestal with Sarah on top may halt construction...
.. or they may build a better, more realistic pedestal
The Dems, for sure, will use every dirty association they can think of to drag this young girl and her mother through the dirt.
Governor Palin may absolutely be the best thing to happen to this country
... but that doesn't exempt her from the 'happenings' of life or the constant pressures from the enemy to trip her.
If we truly care for her and believe in her,
... we will hold her and her family in prayer...even more so.

This also happened to my Nephew. He is married to the mother and they now have three children together.
This is a big so what to me. Life happens, it’s how you deal with it that matters, and they haven chosen life for all their children!

And when the United States collapses under the weight of dysgenic fertility, it will be people like the child in Bristol Palin's womb who will have to assume the burden of leading humanity through the coming Dark Ages and trying to reconstruct some semblance of a civilization.
Unless the Obama camp knew Bristol was pregnant, and floated the fake "Sarah's baby was really Bristol's" rumor in order to force the announcement.
McCain probably knew because I doubt Palin would keep it from him since she had to know it would come out. But if McCain didn’t know he would still say he did because it looks much worse if he says he didn’t know. But it doesn’t change anything for me and I’m still voting for them.
