ST. PAUL -- The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

Well, she was only announced on Friday and it is now Monday.
I’d say they got it out pretty quickly....the very next media day.
I don't see it as that as all. I think we are all concerned how the other guy is going to take this news. I am heartened by the responses I see here.
Best way to know what ammunition they will be using.
It's not common sense, and it's not "most of us".
One source says about women in the US using contraception that only 30% use the pill. It also says that 38% of women between 15-44 use no contraception. So roughly only 20% of child-bearing age women in the US use the pill. That's far from "most".
In Japan the rate of pill usage among such woman is only about 1% -- they have mor concerns with body chemistry than we do.
Playing with the bodies hormone cycle is a new idea. The pill only came into use in the US in 1960, and was not fully available to all unmarried women until 1972. So long term -- lifetime -- we are only now beginning to see any consequences.
No sir -- the pill is not "common sense" whatsoever.
We have more than enough MORONS.
We are in desperate, desparate need of smart people.
You Freepers who don't know anything about demographics really need to read up on what is happening and shut your mouths in the meantime until you know what you're talking about.
WE ARE LIVING IN AN ERA OF A CATASTROPHIC COLLAPSE IN THE NUMBERS OF INTELLIGENT PEOPLE THROUGHOUT THE CIVILIZED WORLD, AND THE COLLAPSE IS ACCELERATING.
Petron...I think it might be a good idea for Palin’s family to check just who might have been looking at their daughters medical record, especially on the computer.Just a hunch but I think HIPPA rules may have been broken.
The voting public had the same reaction we did to Cheney’s daughter being a lesbian—Who gives a crap?—and they’ll have the same reaction to this.
I’ve had the thought that through Sarah Palin, Hurricane Gustav, and whatever comes next, tar-pit after tar-pit is being put in front of the Democrats, and with each one, the temptation to jump in with both feet is growing. Sooner or later, they’re not going to resist—it goes so against who they are and how they think.
God does work in mysterious ways.
If you will look, you will see that most of the threads are supportive, and there are only a couple of holier-than-thou types - who are no doubt paragons of perfection in their private lives and surrounded in their families only by other paragons of perfection - who have written the negative posts that have elicited many of these responses. I’d say the tide among conservatives isn’t runing in your direction. But since you and your family are probably all perfect, I guess it won’t matter to you anyway.
You mean the state with few people and no income tax?
“Out of wedlock pregnancies are still frowned upon in our civilized society. And Evangelicals are a big part of society.”
What evangelicals dislike most of all, is the country club wing of the Republican party (economic not social conservatives).
Those are the people who are only economic conservatives, and look down their noses at social conservatives. They are against abortion when they around the right people; but if it’s their daughter who is pregnant, then they say dump the kid to keep up appearances.
Most evangelicals find that type of hypocrisy to be very distasteful. While most evangelicals do not welcome out of wedlock pregnancies, the most important thing to them is the reaction to it and how it is handled.
Killing a innocent baby is never the answer.
Lord knows, we all fail from time to time.
Except for the perpetually holier than thou contingent.
“In the meantime - in the real world - McCain/Palin just took a huge nosedive among conservatives.”
What it shows me is that her family is real-not a phony tv family where everyone is perfect.
This story of love, human fallibility and steadfastness eclipses Barama’s bitter tale.
Roe v. Wade needs to be overturned, Amendment II needs to be defended, the terrorists and the Russians need to dealt with and spending needs to me cut.
I really don't think that any conservative with more than 2 brain cells in their inventory is going to let this effect their vote.
You may think less of conservatives.
You do realize - don't you? - that by making a stand on this issue that you too must include yourself as an idiot>
Plain and simple.
THIS "BRAT" IS DOING HER LEVEL BEST TO SAVE THE CIVILIZED WORLD FROM EXTINCTION.
Life is not “proper”
And what were the travel itineraries for the lovely couple in that time frame? Did they travel back to the old country as part of a census?
The press release referred to “Bristol and Levi”. Not clear whether Levi is the boyfriend or the baby.
