OK .. I get it now.
Thanks, hiheels .. didn’t see it earlier.
Clears up a lot of my confusion and bewilderment.
McCain/Palin today with Huckabee and Romney,
apparently can be viewed at this link

Thank you, Spunky. You’re right, that’s an excellent video.
I know; I just can't remember who all did. I know I did and now I know you did, and once I posted that I said it way back then and MM reminded that she had too, so I always mention her. Now I'll make sure you're in there too and my apologizies to everybody else who did as well.
wow! 1,100 plus posts today!
And yes, I remember you all on those Katrina threads. We saw it happening before our eyes, as Shep cried on that bridge.
yes that one was a shocker to me.
Huckabe AND Romney AND McCain on one stage?!
What do the insiders know that we don’t know? There has to be some internals screaming some kind of profit in unity.
We have to do it. There's just no choice. At least the future path is lit.
Blank.....oh. It made me laugh too.
Nothing personal about it, just asking questions.
Pray for W, Mav/Palin and Our Troops
To quote my exact words:
Yes, but if we've won, then it's time to get out.
That's two clauses. I answered yes to your question "You are glad we have won arent you??" (post 951). And then, I said: "but if we've won, then it's time to get out." This means that, since we have accomplished our objective of winning, there is very little other reason to stay in Iraq.
Unless...
Have we lost in Germany and Korea? Wouldnt it be smarter to have a presence in that area?
We won WWII (Germany). Korea was a stalemate, last I checked.
Americans pushed so hard to get the British from maintaining a "presence" (standing armies) on their sovereign territory, post-Revolution, that it's just wrong to impose such a thing on other countries (unless the real goal is to subtly push the notion that "do what we say, or we will effect regime change"). What if the British had maintained a "presence" here after the War of 1812, or various European powers actually interfered (by sending standing armies) with our Civil War?
So, no, I do not want to have "presences" (standing armies with bases) all over the world (i.e. occupying countries). That's a thing that empires do, not republics like ours.
Where else is that the definition of victory??
I never implied that leaving Iraq had anything to do with defining victory. I did say, however, that if we have won, we should leave. It follows that we would be allowing the Iraqis to chart their own course among the nations.
Let us know how glad you are that we went into Iraq and took out that dictator to give freedom to 25 million people.
What has been accomplished is undeniably a good thing, but we must be extremely careful not to lapse into the reasoning that "the ends justify the means." That line can be used to justify all sorts of nefarious ends.
How did you like his answers at Saddleback where Black Oblack made a complete fool of himself?
Believe it or not, but sometimes, I do have other things to do, and I passed on the Saddleback extravaganza.
What do you think of abortion?
Abortion is generally considered as murder.
When does life begin and is abortion murder?
Legally, the individual is recognized at birth. "Life" (the individual) biologically begins at conception, but the exact date and time is hard to track for legal purposes.
What does abortion do to the woman who has an abortion?
All sorts of nasty things. But, I wouldn't know exactly, since I am not a woman.
Are you glad Palin kept her Downs baby?
Yes. But that was still her decision to make.
Come on mr conservative, lets talk issues.
Yes, let's.
Do you favor amnesty for tens of millions of illegals? Do you favor giving up a portion of your paycheck to bail out executives with multi-million dollar salaries at Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, General Motors, and other private enterprises? Do you believe that your children should pay for the trillions of dollars in current U.S. liabilities, including off-balance sheet items? And do you believe in "living wages" or implementing mandatory energy rationing (carbon cap-and-trade)? What about subjugating ourself to the United Nations? or the World Court?
Do you like Clarence Thomas?
Yes.
Your hatred of the military comes through with your complete disrespect of McCains service.
And by disrespect, you mean that I dared to question him, since he's so special because he's a POW, right? John McCain's years as a POW are commendable, but what happened after he returned to the U.S. and during his time as a civilian (including his U.S. Senate legislative record) are despicable to say the least.
Oh, and let me ask you this: John Kerry also served in Vietnam. By your logic, we also must show him the same respect and not question him at all, lest we be hypocrites.
The majority of folks in the armed forces are good, honest Americans...but, like the rest of our nation, not everyone in there is that way.
When you spend 5 years tortured nearly to death and offered freedom only to deny it, then you can disregard his service.
So you're saying that I can't question him unless I've been through his exact experiences? Gosh. Then, he's basically untouchable, unquestionable, and unaccountable for any of his actions in the recent past and on into the future, since most of the U.S. population has never been held as a POW in North Vietnam.
Until then you can thank God every day he and people like him gave you your right to hate the military.
Who said that I hate the military?
Oh, you did.
My bad. I love the military. I have friends in the military. The simple existence of our armed forces scares the crap out of most potential enemies around the world and allows the rest of us to sleep soundly at night, go to school, and commute to work.
By the way, why is it that the only people I know who overdo it on the word "hate" are liberals?
They may think your not a plant, but your attitude says just the opposite. You cant fake patriotism mr Conservative.
Blind patriotism (allegiance) to anything is dangerous and foolhardy.
Side note for Alas Babylon! and Morgan in Denver: I have tried to keep this post civil and to debate issues at hand. If you two have any issues with the content of this post, let me know.
That we have to keep Obama and his “handlers” away from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue at all costs, so in unity there is strength?
Or that Rs just generally have more class than D pols?
Or that Sarah is so hot, Huckabee and Romney couldn’t help themselves?
BWAAAAHAAAAAAHAAAAAAAA!!!!
Couldn’t have happened to a more deserving fellow!
~~snicker~~
Saying someone has a "hatred of the military" because they don't embrace John McCain is not "asking a question." It is a personal attack and it is over the top, IMO.
Horse hockey.
By libeling me with your false accusations that I am a DNC plant and that I work for Obama's campaign, you made it personal.
But that's okay, because I forgive you, and I have better things to do than screw around with you all day. However, I will respond to your earlier post.
Cat got your tongue?
Be patient. I was typing my reply.
You dare to compare McCain to Benedict Arnold??
YES.
I don't care how much of a hero you are; if you then turn around and try to sell out (betray) your country by sponsoring such legislation as amnesty for illegal alien law-breakers, you are a traitor in my books.
Offering enticements (citizenship, government benefits, legal status, voting rights, and so forth) to foreign nationals who have broken our laws is just wrong, especially after you have sworn an oath to defend and protect the Constitution and the laws of the United States, something I'm sure that McCain did when he joined the Naval Academy and when he entered Congress. You do not swear to protect and defend the Constitution and the laws and then turn around and entice people to break them.
If any of us had done that, we would be considered as aiding and abetting others' violations of the law.
In one word, due to the aforementioned behavior, and due to his willful betrayal of his oaths of office, yes, McCain is a traitor.
So please, spare me the lecture that McCain is somehow special, privileged, and exempt from criticism simply because he was a POW.
“Also, by implication, might explain where some of the Biden money came from.”
What I’D like to know is where Plugs’ and his wife’s money came from. I recently heard that they’re wealthier than has been explained from either of their jobs, as well as real estate holdings they have that sound interesting.
Anyone?
Ping to the cspan video .. ;) Getting rain there?
CSPAN is running McCain/Palin Campaign stop today in O’Fallen Missouri
You explained your self very clearly to that Freeper. I saw nothing contradictory, nor backtracking in your clarifications. In fact, I quite agree with many of the things you say.
I can see that viewpoint and logic, particularly coming from doctrinaire Republican operatives and RINO appeasers.
Question: So how many of them cast their vote for POW HERO Cdr. James Stockdale for Vice President of the United States in 1992?
They could not STAND the guy, because he went against their mainstream RINO choice that year, as a TRUE MAVERICK. So I call this hypocrisy.
