Bill Clinton Gets Stuck in an Elevator

Thursday , August 28, 2008 By Roger Friedman

DENVER —

Bill Clinton Gets Stuck in Elevator

It was a mixed bag night for former President Bill Clinton.

First, his appearance at the Democratic National Convention was met with one of the longest ovations ever recorded at such an event. Clinton even acknowledged it, telling the rabid audience, “I love this.”

Yes, he is a rock star.

But then, in a scene right out of the great rock star movie, “Spinal Tap

I actually got stuck in a Chicago skyscraper elevator several decades ago. There were three of us in the cab, myself, Da Mare, Richard Daley Sr., and his main financial backer, multi-millionaire, flamboyant, cartoonish insurance mogul, J. Clement Stone.

We exchanged the usual phrases about being stuck.

Fortunately, the elevator got going after about 5 minutes. But I got a chance to see for myself the answer to the rumor that had floated around the Windy City for years that Stone's pencil-thin, strikingly-black mustache was "painted" on.

Being inches from his face I saw that not only was his mustache penciled on with a black cosmetic liner, but so were his hairless eyebrows.

This earth-shaking discovery amused me and the "stuck-in-the-elevator incident provided me with a political "war story" for years.

Not as inappropriate as Obama kissing Bidens wife almost smack on mouth when greeting them last night, it shocked Michelle (face lost smile) and me.

Michelle should have been up there on the stage with her husband, Biden and his wife. I don’t think she knew what to do. Finally, Jill left and that left the two candidates (P & VP). I think that someone didn’t coordinate that that very well.

LOL..........these folks are a gaffe a minute tho.

Not for nothing....but if you don't think they panicked, you're kidding yourself. And if you don't think they thought about what's God up to...you're kidding yourself.

Kinda like putting a big "L" on the whole families forehead.

I tell you...she's gonna quit politics and never run again for anything.

I said back in 1998, that a hundred years from now the name “Bill Clinton” would be mostly remembered as the start of a lewd story.
