The approval rating for Congress is 9%, and McCain should pick another Senator? Am I missing something here?
McCain should go outside Washington for his Veep choice.
After watching Mitt take care of Couric and Wolfie at the convention, my money is on him. He did a terrific job and I have a whole new respect for Mitt today.
I agree with my fellow Texans. This would be a BAD choice.
Currently, it's not that hard to be a Texas Senator. Just vote conservative and you'll be re-elected. When she first started, she would just copy Phil Gramms’ homework.
Cornyn is very engaged and involved on all the issues important to Texas, Ms. Hutchison is a pleasant placeholder.
While I don't think people give much weight to vice presidential debates, her only hope against Joe Biden would be to pull the “Hillary - Rick Lazio, mean man bullying helpless female” card.
She's never struck me as unusually bright or terribly passionate about conservative causes.
Posters on McCain’s blogs are pushing the Huckster, HARD!
I think it would be an outstanding pick. I hope she agrees to do it.
Fer cryin’ out loud, folks, can we get over this ‘woman thing’ on the ticket? Has ANYONE just seen what has happened in the democrat party? An odds on favorite to win at least the VP has just LOST.
The obvious VP pick has already been FULLY vetted by the Republican Party and given a full body MRI exam by the MSM and STILL managed to come within hair’s width of winning the nomination.
One day there WILL be a woman president but she will get there ON HER OWN MERITS and not by riding on the coat tails as VP or any male. It will be then and only then a woman has ‘broken the glass ceiling’.
Why KBH?
Why not Blackburn, Bachmann or Palin?
She's been slow-rolling our border fence down here, along with Gov. Rick Perry.
Oh God. Not another Texan.
Please.
I think the VP nominee may be Pawlenty based upon two things I heard this morning on Fox.
In the 9:00 hour Bill Hemmer (FNC) asked his quest, Michael Steele, who he hoped McCain’s pick would be and he said, “Pawlenty”, elaborating on his reasons for why he would be a good choice.
In the 10:00 hour (10:20 aprox), Hemmer had Rush Limbaugh on the phone to get his take on the DNC convention so far and Hillary’s speech last night in particular.
During the phone interview, Hemmer asked Rush who he thought would be a good VP choice for McCain that would excite his base. Rush said that the McCain campaign is really hitting on all cylinders right now, what with all the great ads they’re putting out, etc., and that McCain needs to make sure he doesn’t blow it with a bad VP choice. He mentioned Pawlenty’s name first, as “one that would excite the base” and Romney’s name second.
Just guessing, but if I was a betting person, I would bet that the “inside” word is “Pawlenty”.
If we hear Pawlenty’s name being promoted on talk-radio today, I will be even more confident on my take.
McCain may want to create some “buzz” out there about Pawlenty so as to give people something other to think about other than the DNC dog-and-pony show going on in Denver.
KBH is pro-abort, anti-2nd amendment, pro-illegal, anti-fence. Forget it.
Big mistake. She’s a RINO.
Picking a conservative female would be a great strategic move by McCain. He should also consider executive experience as a plus.
NOT a good choice, imho ...
At this point, I think Tim Pawlenty will be the pick. Having the convention in his state means that picking him would generate more excitement at the convention. He won't excite the rabid anti-Mormon bigotry that Mitt Romney does. While his positions haven't been perfectly conservative either, no one has accused him of changing positions. While Minnesota doesn't bring that many electoral votes, he's more certain to deliver Minnesota than Mitt Romney is to deliver Michigan.
I like Mitt Romney, but I think he's serving as the decoy right now. Haley Barbour is a possibility, but I don't think we need him to win the South. If I were in McCain's inner circle, I would have been considering Rick Santorum, but I realize that he's not a possibility. Eric Cantor may be too much of an unknown, but I'd be happy about that ticket.
