Hillary Rodham Clinton's most loyal delegates came to the Pepsi Center on Tuesday night looking for direction. They listened, rapt, to a 20-minute speech that many proclaimed the best she had ever delivered, hoping her words could somehow unwind a year of tension in the Democratic Party. But when Clinton stepped off the stage and the standing ovation faded into silence, many of her supporters were left with a sobering realization: Even a tremendous speech couldn't erase their frustrations.
Despite Clinton's plea for Democrats to unite, her delegates remained divided as to how they should proceed.

And Obama REALLY screwed up by not picking Hillary. DUMB. I know it sucks if you are Obama to realize that you need Hillary to win. It’s a fly in your soup, to be sure. But suck it up and deal! The smart, winning move was to pick Hillary. I shuddered thinking about it. It would have fixed all the DEM internal problems. But then again, maybe she’s out for the kill, and didn’t want to do it. Who knows? I’m just glad she’s not on the ticket with him. We’d have lost.
Please allow me to add an assessment of Obama that we should watch closely and be ready to counter: Obama will lose to McCain this year. McCain will only be in office one term. Hillary Clinton MAY have another election bid in her, depends on her health. Guess who WILL be back in 2012? Barack Obama will, and he’ll be claiming that NOW he has “the experience”.
That add was playing on Fox this morning about every time they talked about Hillary. It completely undermines any support her speach gives BHO...
If she were a Republican, the pundits would have slaughtered her. “Nasal, monotonic, soporific, bloodless, devoid of emotion, the minimum she had to do,” are just some of the milder descriptors that would have been hurled at her. I thought she looked as good as she possibly could.
Obama’s only chance will be if he becomes Governor of Illinois.
The Senate is not the path to the WH. (Of course unless both candidates are Senators)

Oh yeah, they were. I watched it and was so glad she is out of the running this election as president (as it stands) and as the VP candidate as well. Thank goodness for BO's and his campaign's arrogance...
That's interesting because I find the exact same thing to be true of the McCain supporters here. No solid reasons to vote for McCain, just that he is the nominee and he is not Obama.
Did you notice the big change in her voice and enthusiasm when she got over the first part of the speech which was about Obama, and got into her standard stump message which was about HER? It was as though a switch had been thrown. She went from lifeless to animated.

I think it’s considerably more complex than let Obama lose this cycle so Hillary can come back in 2012. The Obama ‘thing’ was an attempt by many dems to purge the CLinton’s from the dem party...for good. Sadly their choice/tactics was profoundly bad. There’s still a lot of ground to cover between now and the next pres cycle. Will the dems ‘come home’ to the Clintons after 4yr of McCain or is this truely the end of the road for them? My feeling is its the end of the road. Bill is out of control and only getting worse + Hillary going into the primary could only garner 30% of her party. I don’t see her numbers going up.
No...I did not watch that much (Mets-Phillies game). I just saw the early part, but I will take your word that she got better when she was the subject!
I think the Clintons will be up and here’s why.
Obama is going to get trounced in November. And the bottom line is after Gore, Kerry and Obama. The Clintons are the only ones who actually have won something. The Rats are tired of losing, and they will turn back to the Clintons because they’ve actually won. The Rats may increase their hold on Congress, but that is largely by default, even then it will be tenuous, because of Congress’ low approval ratings, which I wouldn’t expect to go up.
Yes, that would be the case if the Clintons were the only game in town. I think the dems (at least some of them) will work OT to make sure thats not the case. There could be plenty of competition ala Congress or governors. This is probably the best of all worlds b/c that means the dem party is still split and feuding. Then theres the question of Hillary’s 30% issue. I just dont see that going away as long as theres strong opposition to the Clintons. To be sure it looks like this fight is for the ‘soul’ of the dem party.
I can only hope they’re done for good. God, I hate those swine!!
