Scarborough: I Bet Everyone at MSNBC Is Registered 'Independent'

H/t reader cgb1. There was probably a dose of WWF at work, but surely also some authentic animosity in the heated exchange between Joe Scarborough and David Shuster on today's Morning Joe. Scarborough ultimately accused Shuster and his MSNBC colleagues of being Democrats, their independent political registrations notwithstanding.

A news segment about Iraqi President al-Maliki's call for the withdrawal of US troops touched off the skirmish. Shuster snidely suggested to Joe that "your party, the Republican party" mocks those who call for withdrawal. All hell ensued. The entire seven-minute exchange is worth viewing, and I'll be posting the video soon. But the highlight was Scarborough's challenge to Shuster. It comes 2:18 in.

JOE SCARBOROUGH: I will let you know that "my party," my party, loathes me, much more than your party, the Democratic party, loathes me.

DAVID SHUSTER: Well that's a whole 'nother issue, but the fact of the matter is --

SCARBOROUGH: No, it's not another issue, because you said --

SHUSTER: The party you served with in Congress have repeatedly suggested, they have ridiculed --

SCARBOROUGH: What about your party? What's your party? David Shuster, David: what's your party?

SHUSTER: I have no party. I'm a complete independent.

I almost choked I laughed so hard when I saw this.

After watching the video, Joe comes out looking like a fool too by conceding to Shusters argument at the end. I guess he realized he needed to cover his flank or he would be joining Tucker Carlson as has been token Republican show hosts on PMSNBC.

MSNBC’s audience consists of the DU and the dailyKOS. And that is exactly who they pitch their programming to.

Why anyone else would want to watch this bunch of partisan losers acting bizarrely is beyond me.

I watched this whole thing. I could not believe it. At one point Joe says that Shuster has not shown up for work on three separate occasion. I wonder what that was all about, but it was at least indicative of the real animosity going on there.

I'm no fan of Joe, but he showed more restraint then I would have, not with Shuster, but with that woman next to him. I was just waiting for him to backhand her and tell her to shut up!

Speaking of Mika about 2 mins into the video I detected a *SNORT* picked up by those dum@ss microphones they are wearing. Catch the “Yes IMAN” remark?

Wow! I barely ever watch Turncoat Scarborough, but, I have to admit, Joe's MSNBC deathwish couldn't have been more blatant. Joe threw PC caution to the wind and made it a personal attack on Schuster. Don't get me wrong - It was great for not letting Schuster get away with the digs but Joe reached a boiling point and I bet his show is gone in a short amount of time before the election. MSNBC will not allow even a Moderate to come off like that.

Oh well Joe, you're one better than McClellan(sp?) but it'll still be hard finding your next gig.

Joe is getting what he deserves. He went a period of unreality where he thought being evenhanded would garner him liberal love. But his evenhandedness meant giving the backhand to his original supporters.

Now everyone just feels disgust.
