...In February, the Florida Department of Education modified its standards to explicitly require, for the first time, the states public schools to teach evolution, calling it the organizing principle of life science. Spurred in part by legal rulings against school districts seeking to favor religious versions of natural history, over a dozen other states have also given more emphasis in recent years to what has long been the scientific consensus: that all of the diverse life forms on Earth descended from a common ancestor, through a process of mutation and natural selection, over billions of years.
But in a nation where evangelical Protestantism and other religious traditions stress a literal reading of the biblical description of Gods individually creating each species, students often arrive at school fearing that evolution, and perhaps science itself, is hostile to their faith.
Some come armed with Ten questions to ask your biology teacher about evolution, a document circulated on the Internet that highlights supposed weaknesses in evolutionary theory. Others scrawl their opposition on homework assignments. Many just tune out.

Using the political process is force. We have tried to reason with Temple of Darwin fanatics, but they insist on legislating from the bench. It is now time to launch a political crusade against activist judges, and those who appoint them, until such time as we achieve a complete separation of religious Darwinism and state. In the end, that will mean not one red cent of public money going to fund Temple of Darwin fanatics like you.
Backing off of the threats now because you are afraid of getting banned? No "evo" , as you call them, is afraid of you or your movement. Science always wins in a copetition with superstition. The Caatholic Church and the Methodists have adopted evolution as consistent with their concepts of Christianity. The Baptists will follow. You may be the last guy shouting "the moon is made of green cheese!", but nobody will be listening.
==Backing off of the threats now because you are afraid of getting banned?
I’m not afraid of being banned, because I never issued PHYSICAL threats to anyone. That makes you a LIAR. Not that lying matters in light of your Darwiniac religion.
==Science always wins in a copetition with superstition.
If that’s the case, then the Temple of Darwin should come crumbling down any time now.
Only liberal mainline denominations fall for your phony religion. How the Catholic Church will ultimately come down on this issue remains to be seen. But I did take note of the fact that the Pope fired the priest who was in charge of the Vatican observatory for criticizing Intelligent Design and saying it shouldn't be taught in school. Good for the Pope!
Certainly is too bad. Faith and science should not be incompatible.
I was interested in the debate up until this point. That last comment decided me as to which side was in the right.
Thanks, newbie!
Like shooting fish in a barrel.
The Evos are scared of falsifiability.
BTW, why was FR down yesterday?
We feel exactly the same way about those of you that claim “inconsistencies” in the bible.
You cut and paste the “40 inconsistencies”; we painstakingly research and answer them, and then you, instead of considering the answers, dismiss them out of hand.
The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”
More to the point,
we know for a fact that a biology teacher bringing up these questions about evolution would be fired, sued by the ACLU, and ostracized from the teaching/scientific community.
FA Hayek -
one of the greatest paradoxes of collectivist thought is the reliance on reason as the justification for collectivism,
while the implementation of collectivism destroys the development of reason by forcefully excluding dissenting viewpoints.
no, nor does it depend on the calendar date, basically one and the same argument.
"You can't hold that viewpoint in today's society!"
The objective truth, and objective morality, have not EVER changed, and existed before anything material existed.
Ah, yes, very simple indeed. Let the authority figure indoctrinate your kids, and the kids of others who are a blank slate due to lack of training in the home (or trust in the authorities),
THEN, if you desire to do extra work to counter the initial indoctrination, research the dissenting viewpoints.
Wiley, you seem to lack a basic misunderstanding of what it means to use the government to back your position, which you currently do.
Go against the government's will, and an armed agent of that gov't shows up to enforce that will.
You're not a conservative/classical liberal, are you? You'd understand this if so.
OOOPS. DOUBLE NEGATIVE TYPO.

I used to have this position, but have you EVER heard of a government funded program, besides welfare, that didn't have strings.
You couldn't count down from 10 before a leftist would be attaching regulations about what kind of school "qualifies".
The sleepless nights aren’t caused, directly, by the collapse of Darwinist theory.
It’s the alternative that causes sleepless nights for folks like this.
There is a Creator, He’s Good, and more frighteningly, He’s _JUST_.
That means your behavior will be judged, and you know that there is no way to be good enough. And you also know that that one thing that you hold so dear is not pleasing to Him, and you would have to give it up if you admit that He exists.
Amazing, isn’t it, that we didn’t have the commie ACLU around to sue all aspects of religion out of our country in the first 200 years,
and for some reason, we didn’t become a dreaded “theocracy”.
And more to the point, it can be tracked that the removal of the “theocratic” elements from schools was the start of an exponential increase in ALL negative social indicators.
