Measles Cases Grow in Number, and Officials Blame Parents’ Fear of Autism
NY Times ^ | August 21, 2008 | Gardiner Harris

More people had measles infections in the first seven months of this year than during any comparable period since 1996, and public health officials blamed growing numbers of parents who refuse to vaccinate their children.

Many of these parents say they believe vaccines cause autism, even though multiple studies have found no reputable evidence to support such a claim. In Britain, Switzerland, Israel and Italy, measles outbreaks have soared, sickening thousands and causing at least two deaths.

“due to routine MMR innoculations which have pretty much ended that horrific birth defect.”

The mercury preservative hasn’t been used in vaccines since 2001. And it was never used in the MMR to begin with.

Those that don’t vaccinate their kids are just ignorant.

I have a friend who used to work for a major national home school association. I once talked with some of their attorneys, and the anti-vacination movement is big among some homeschool families. I could tell these guys had mixed emotions about it, but they explained to me that many of their members have strong opinions against some, or even all vaccines for their kids...

I really believe that there should practically be prison time for people who refuse to vaccinate, IF they spread a major disease (like measles) on to others.

As I understand it, while measles is usually not life-threatening to children, it is very life threatening to adults.

HPV is one thing...no one’s life is threatened, and its usually an STD. However, unvaccinated kids in major diseases should be forced to stay out of the public.

I know a lot of great people homeschool (and if I had kids I might myself) however, there are a few homeschool folks that are definitely of the luner-airborne-rodent type.

*I’m sorry but the health of the public at large trumps your “religion.”*

So, how does the liberal sanctioning of their religion, and demanding that all children be indoctrinated into homosexual acceptance fit into your myth that other people’s religion should be trumped?

Seems to me that THEIR religion gets a pass AND they are free to infect anyone they want. Public health is a myth with the acceptance of such gross inanity.

I can’t speak for generic, however, as my Moma always said, “Two wrongs don’t make a right.”

Just because public health risks have been abandoned when it comes to AIDS (due to heavy lobbying by the Sodomites) doesn’t mean our country should abandon it altogether!

If parents have their kids in public AT ALL...they need to have the major vaccinations.

For me, it’s a lesser of two evils thing.

People nowadays don’t understand what older folks remember. My mother told me about the yellow signs hung on doors “quarentine” and the friend she had that died of polio. Whole districts were shut down, with people shut in their homes.

I know someone born with horrible birth defects from rubella. I know someone with a heart ailment from measles.

People have no remembrance of what a major epidemic is. We used to have them, but modern medicine has erased the worst of most of them. See my tagline...

Cuba quarantines their infected AIDS population. Doesn’t mean I want to live in Cuba!

The myth that public health matters is that, a myth, if the AIDS infected are free to roam. What I find most interesting is that most of the illegals are the ones who aren’t vaccinated. Do YOU hear of them being rounded up and given their shots? No, you say?

Very interesting.

The very few who don’t vaccinate aren’t the trouble. The trouble is large groups of uneducated poor people with NO vaccinations have been pouring into this country and that is the real problem, not your average US citizen who questions the status quo.

What are the major vaccinations? Here is the problem, they don’t let parents pick and choose. You opt out of all the shots for religious reasons, or you get them all. There is no middle ground.

I have had serious reactions in my family from the DPT shot. My sister’s child never made it out of the doctors office. She was rushed to the hospital, and suffered seizures for about two years after the shot. My cousins child was not so luckily, he suffered permanent brain damage.

The CDC says that if a close family member has had a reaction to a certain shot, they recommend to not give the shot to your child. However, you need to get a release from a doctor. Good luck finding a doctor that will give you a release for a certain shot. My sister could not even get one for her child. The same doctor wanted to give her the shot again 6 months later.
We have no choice but to opt out for religions reasons. You do not have the option to do any of them.
You see, we are not all nuts reading about autism. This is the hardest decision that I have had to make. I still worry about my choice, but it is the right choice for my family at this time. I still am a person that believes it is the parents choice.

BTW, 131 case is not an outbreak. How many people are walking around with TB? You can sure find a lot more to worry about than 131 cases of measles.

Catholic Medical Association Wants Vaccines Not Using Cells From Abortions Email this article

by Steven Ertelt
LifeNews.com Editor
May 16, 2006

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) — The Catholic Medical Association and other pro-life advocates are calling for companies to produce new vaccines that do not use cells from babies who have been aborted. The call comes after a vaccine with such cells was used in Iowa to treat a recent outbreak of the mumps.
Part of the vaccine used in Iowa (MMR) to treat the outbreak derived from tissue obtained from abortion, and there is no alternative available for that component in the U.S, according to CMA.

That the vaccine relies on killing babies before birth to cure others is causing problems for pro-life residents in Iowa.

“The concerns raised in Iowa show that this is a real issue for many people,” explains Robert Saxer, CMA’s executive vice president. “Pharmaceutical companies and the FDA have a responsibility to address these concerns and provide vaccines that can be used by all.”

But the mumps vaccine is not the only one that relies on cells from aborted babies.

Vaccines that have been derived from cell lines originally prepared from tissue taken from voluntarily aborted babies include those for rubella, Hepatitis A, as well as others.

“The bottom line is that vaccines derived from abortions should mainly be avoided and used only when alternatives are unavailable,” Saxer said. “But there is really no reason why those alternatives should be unavailable.”

“The pharmaceutical companies that manufacture the vaccines have the ability and know-how to produce versions of these vaccines which do not depend on cell lines from aborted fetuses,” he explained. “They should be pressured to develop those vaccines to meet the health needs of those who have religious and ethical objections to abortion.”

Saxer also called on the FDA to allow for the licensing and importation of safe and effective ethical alternative vaccines such as Takahashi (rubella) and Aimmugen (Hepatitis A).

Richard Doerflinger, a pro-life spokesman for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, agrees with Saxer’s concerns.

He said the nation’s Catholic bishops will work with CMA and other pro-life groups to help make alternative vaccines readily available.

“In this way we can ensure that concerned Catholics and other pro-life Americans will not confront the dilemma of having to accept a vaccine based on morally illicit sources, or risk compromising the health of themselves and others,” Doerflinger said.

Oh never mind, they ’t keep these stats. I wonder why.

Of course they do - as you could easily have discovered with thirty seconds and a GOOGLE search.

Most of the studies these days have to be done in "backwards" places like Bangladesh and Nigeria

http://www.who.int/bulletin/archives/80(10)776.pdf

where ignorant and superstitious people - sometimes because they have been told so by ignorant and superstitious religious leaders - sometimes believe that immunization is a government plot to harm their children

But if we keep going the way we are, we may again be able to start doing conducting their studies amongst Americans - just as it was possible in the 1970s to study several forms of childhood malnutrition that has disappeared in the US until moonbat Hippies put their young children on macrobiotic diets.

-----------

Here's the bottom line:

“How exactly are the un- vaccinated a threat to anyone but other un-vaccinated?”

The un-vaccinated are a threat to infants who have not had a vaccine yet.

Vaccines are not 100% percent effective. This doesn’t mean they “don’t work.”

I bet you rely on many things that are not 100% effective... birth control, medication, surgery. But you still use them because they give you at least some benefit some of the time.

I was vaccinated for measles in 1967, and got it anyway in 1973. I don’t know how often that happens. I do know I wasn’t the only one; several of my classmates got it too.

You should check out the moonbats over at mothering.com’s vaccine forum (which should probably be called the anti-vaccine forum). There are many there who actually don’t believe in herd immunity. They don’t believe that more people vaxed=less disease. Or maybe they have convinced themselves not to believe in it so that they can sleep at night and somehow justify their selfish behavior. I got into an argument with them once over this topic. They’re a bunch of bleeding hearts, so I asked them how they can justify not vaxing since it puts others at risk, and their response was that herd immunity doesn’t work. Yikes. There are some people on that forum that spend so much time on the topic you would think it was their full time job to research every quack’s opinion on the internet who’s anti-vax and pretend it’s legitimate scientific research.

” selfish behavior?”

DESCRIPTION

M-M-R II (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella Virus Vaccine Live) is a live virus vaccine for vaccination against measles (rubeola), mumps and rubella (German measles). M-M-R II is a sterile lyophilized preparation of (1) ATTENUVAX’ (Measles Virus Vaccine Live), a more attenuated line of measles virus, derived from Enders’ attenuated Edmonston strain and propagated in chick embryo cell culture;

(2) MUMPSVAX* (Mumps Virus Vaccine Live), the Jerl Lynn (B level) strain of mumps virus propagated in chick embryo cell culture; and

***(3) MERUVAX’ll (Rubella Virus Vaccine Live), the Wistar RA 27/3 strain of live attenuated rubella virus propagated in WI-38 human diploid lung fibroblasts.***

The growth medium for measles and mumps is Medium 199 (a buffered salt solution containing vitamins and amino acids and supplemented with fetal bovine serum) containing SPGA (sucrose, phosphate, glutamate, and human albumin) as stabilizer and neomycin.

The growth medium for rubella is Minimum Essential Medium (MEM) [a buffered salt solution containing vitamins and amino acids and supplemented with fetal bovine serum] containing human serum albumin and neornycin. Sorbitol and hydrolyzed gelatin stabilizer are added to the individual virus harvests.

The cells, virus pools, fetal bovine serum, and human albumin are all screened for the absence of adventitious agents. Human albumin is processed using the Cohn cold ethanol fractionation procedure.

The reconstituted vaccine is for subcutaneous administration. Each 0.5 mL dose contains not less than 1,000 TCID(tissue culture infectious doses) of measles virus; 20,000 TCID of mumps virus; and 1,000 TCID of rubella virus. Each dose of the vaccine is calculated to contain sorbitol (14.5 mg), sodium phosphate, sucrose (1.9 mg), sodium chloride, hydrolyzed gelatin (14.5 mg), human albumin (0.3 mg), fetal bovine serum (<l ppm), other buffer and media ingredients and approximately 25 mcg of neomycin. The product contains no preservative.

That is the key....society has no clue how debilitating these bugs are; no memories and not good students of history. They think: so what some kid has pertussis and is coughing a little more than usual or is in bed with a rash...how bad could measles be? No clue of the peace these vaccines have provided.
