Assault rifles, rocket launchers, tanks, uniforms... All that stuff the Russians have taken from the Georgian soldiers during the conflict, that lasted several days. Now they're boasting, showing the results of their looting to the tourists.
The Russian army have organised an exhibition in Sukhumi (Abkhazia), where they're showing what they've taken from the Georgians.
The weapons - mainly from the USA, Germany and Israel - looks, like it's brand new, straight from the factory. Probably its Western origins was the reason, why the Russians wanted to show it - to prove, that the Georgians have been supported by other countries, mainly by the Americans.

Not everything they took in Poti was Georgian.
I didn’t know Russia had a right to enter Georgia and to loot its military storage.
I’ll keep it simple:
Russia had a military presence in Georgia in the form of a peace keeping force. Georgia has been trying to force ethnic Russian civilians from the area ("ethnic cleansing"). South Ossetia had wanted to be a part of Russia, not Georgia. Georgian military forces were ready to enter South Ossetia and force the people to accept Georgian authority. Additional Russian forces were sent in to reinforce the peace keeping force and protect the ethnic Russians.
All countries do not operate under the same humanitarian restrictions that we use. Russians met the Georgian forces and attacked. Capturing the enemy’s military equipment has long been a part of war.
Russians may have an excuse for the initial seizure - a lame excuse, but ...
Russia uses the Cyrillic, not the Roman alphabet. The soldiers that initially seized the Humvees may not have recognized “USMC”. They saw military equipment full of fancy electronic hardware. Russia would see it as an intelligence coup. Now that they have been informed that the vehicles are ours they will be returned - eventually, after being examined.
If the communications equipment was classified it should not have been left unattended.
There’s a difference between what would clearly be a civilian aircraft belonging to an uninvolved country and military equipment. If the airliner had been painted in military colors and looked like it might be a bomber it would be captured.
Since when did Ossetians (Iranic) become “ethnic Russians” (East Slavic)?

Let them have their few moments of crowing. While they hurt Georgia and embarassed the US, they also messed up by letting the world, and the US intelligence establishment, know what their real intentions are. Plus, although they overran poorly prepared Georgian troops, they also revealed that there own state of military readiness isn’t that great.
They have revealed great weaknesses that we can exploit if they are foolish enough to directly take us on by attacking a NATO country.
Additionally, given time we can better train and equip the Georgian military. And prepare the “terrain” for another Russian incursion, which won’t go so good a second time.
While I would have liked to see a much stronger response from the whole world, I’m quite sure that Russia expected a MUCH weaker one and should be suffering from shock—at least the ones smart enough to realize the truth of what you said:

No stolen is a far better word, when speaking of thieves. Soldiers capture things, thugs steal them. Just like the Nazi’s the Russians have become thugs.

A long time ago - in the days of the Soviet Union a lot of Russians moved in.
Really? They were following orders. They were protecting Russian peacekeepers and ethnic Russian civilians.
Yes, I know the Russians are the epitome of evil thanks to the old Soviet Union - but remember that Georgia was part of the Evil Empire. Remember too that everything our “esteemed” MSM publishes is not the complete truth, and their slant on this story was set in a way to make President Bush look as bad as possible - he did nothing to stop the “invasion”. Our news media ignored the history of the area.
And not sure about the addressee here, but there is a fundamental difference between taking arms as a trophy and removing AC unites, refrigerators and toilet seats from administrative buildings and steeling jewelry from Georgian homes (I am sure there is video on youtube showing Russian soldier with golder fork in his pockets - I doubt even Russia propaganda can say that this is a standard travel kit for their troops!)
No soldier took a souvenir? All soldiers are perfectly trained and disciplined?
