Any of ‘em could’ve said it. “Totalitarianism is coming, and there ain’t nothin’ you can do to stop it.” Sorry, I thought Conservatives fought against that diseased mindset ?

Romney was born in March 1947. That makes him 61 years old. He’s not much older than I am.

As opposed to being a pastor, he is running for the vice-president role. As I’ve mentioned, it is a powerless position.

Also I’ve pointed out that he is a pro-life convert. Since he has no power, it would not be like letting him be pastor or evangelist or missionary. It would be like letting him attend seminary. He gets to learn, and he has no real authority (unless the Senate ties, something that never happens.)

A seminarian’s progress can be tracked, and if it isn’t satisfactory, he does not have to be ordained and given a pulpit.

You really haven’t a clue who or what he is, do you ? Every Conservative in this country should be physically sick and shaking with anger at the notion that cretin Slick Willard could get that close to the Presidency. Wasn’t Al Gore warning enough to you people ? Or is a Gore what you truly want ?

Romney will not be president. He will be vice-president.

And Dan Quayle is a recent VP who was defeated (easily) in a primary and who never became president. Cheney is also an example of someone who for whatever political reason is also not going to be president.

ONE HEARTBEAT AWAY...

“Also I’ve pointed out that he is a pro-life convert.”

We dont really know that for sure...

“Since he has no power, it would not be like letting him be pastor or evangelist or missionary.”

He’s a Bishop...

“A seminarian’s progress can be tracked, and if it isn’t satisfactory, he does not have to be ordained and given a pulpit.”

A serminarian can be fired on the spot...

There’s no buyers remorse allowed with the VP turned POTUS...

And what did that VEEP choice get us?

David Souter. He gave us Clarence Thomas then balanced it out by going with Souter.

Maybe some Freepers will vow to “leave the country” if Romney is elected.

The issue is that McCain will change the platform. For all the pro-life movement has dine for the GOP, the GOP is going to stop pretending they care about that issue.

The heartbeat away has not happened since 1963....45 years ago.

I’d call that extremely rare.

There is buyer’s remorse. As I pointed out, Quayle was not elevated to the presidency. He was roundly defeated.

"Romney will not be president. He will be vice-president."

LBJ will not be President. He will be Vice-President. -- 1960.

"And Dan Quayle is a recent VP who was defeated (easily) in a primary"

Dan Quayle was not the incumbent President and his candidacy was not serious when he ran in 1996. You're comparing apples and oranges.

"Cheney is also an example of someone who for whatever political reason is also not going to be president."

Cheney is not the President. Slick Willard's entire mission in life is to get to the Presidency by any means necessary. It's a pathological obsession equal to Gore's. Both believed the Presidency was stolen from their fathers. McCain will die in office from health problems and that one-man destructive leftist RINO Trojan Horse Democrat will be the President. That should terrify every Conservative in this country, especially after seeing his record in Massachusetts.

“You said there’s nothing we can do to stop it.”

That’s correct. He will either be chosen or not chosen, irrsespective of you.

There is nothing you can do lol.

Many are the plans in the mind of man...

I've been hearing terrestrial predictions from good and decent men (many of them Evangelical preachers) since I was a child.

From Bill Graham, whom I love, to Jack Van Impe, to Oral Roberts, to Pat Robertson, and dozens more.

That doesn't make them evil, or unacceptable.

I recall during the 7-Day war (Israel vs Arabs) in 1967. Preachers all over America were making all types of pre-millenial and post-millenial and tribulation predictions and suppositions.

I'm not saying Joseph Smith was the purveyor of truth, or that Joseph Smith was not a distortionist of sorts.

But I could sift through history and find Popes, and Lutherans, and Protestants of all stripes who made wild and crazy predictions that later seemed almost laughable.

“Irrsespective” huh ? Well, we’re going to keep raising awareness of this destructive and divisive liberal and hope sanity prevails and his lying ass is permanently kicked to the curb.

“keep raising awareness of this destructive and divisive liberal”

Some tried that earlier in the politcal process, and here he is at the front end of the VP list. If you guys have your way and Obama wins, he will be the frontrunner for Pres in 2012.

LBJ was 43 years ago. Obviously, that’s an extremely rare event.

The VP doesn’t automatically succeed the president. He has to prevail in the primary and then the general election.

Romney has claimed a conversion to pro-life. McCain is solidly pro-life. Romney’s new-found beliefs could be solidified under a pro-life president.

Also, pro-life actually aligns with his religious beliefs, so it is a coming home for him.

However, FMJ, and you, too, TNana, there is nothing illogical, immoral, or unethical in your concerns. You have every right to be concerned; and you have every right to voice your concerns.

I am willing to give Romney a chance, and you are not willing to take a risk like that. Your position is honorable.

That really makes Cantor of Virginia a good compromise candidate for the 3 of us. He is a lifelong, strongly conservative Virginia congressman. He could solidify Virginia for John McCain. I also like Jindal, Palin, Santorum, Hunter, Thompson, and Pence.
