i find it highly amuzing that when you point out the tons of errors and stupid pronouncements from the gods of ‘knowledge’ you are told the usual b.s. that you just dont understand science, blah, blah, blah, and that it is wonderful the errors are found, cause this proves science is self correcting, etc..

but when you ask if the current paradigm can be question since past gigantic errors have occured in science, all the sudden, you are relegated to the ‘ignorant bible thumpers’ group..

Near as I can tell, normal workaday scientists don’t have this sort of problem. The problem arises when scientists try to pontificate on topics they don’t really have any sort of a decent handle on, which are usually origins type topics like evolution and cosmology issues.

Just exactly what is the Theory of Intelligent Design? How does it work?

One can make anything their ‘god’. Some do it with money, some with sex, some with TV, some with food. Some do it with science.

Mr. Sternberg, an evolutionary biologist with two doctorates in biology, was thought to defend Intelligent Design, when, as editor of the Proceedings of the Biological Society of Washington, he published, in 2004, a paper making the case for ID.

Why would anybody think that?

You could simply ask any competent genetic engineering professional....

You put the dot on the i with that.

Normal, REAL science doesn’t have this problem. In fact, people who are down on ‘science’ usually do NOT understand it in the first place.

Secondly to say that “Science is a religion” unto itself is a bit of a misstatement. No, it’s a LOT of a misstatement.

Science is factual INFORMATION and DATA.

Religion is based on FAITH.

They are two separate things, and anyone who sits there and says “Science doesn’t know things and it’s also based on faith” is simply wrong.

Not ALL theories are proven, but facts are facts and gravity is real, as are various LAWS (like thermodynamics, and so on) so those things are NOT based on faith.

Science: A Religion Unto Itself

The FR Religion MOD already declared that Science is NOT a religion.
I'm not going to argue with her.

“Science is factual INFORMATION and DATA.”

Does global warming er climate change fall into the above category or faith? Or like with evolution, one year we are crawling out of the sea, the next we crawled out after we crawled back in...hehehe

You could simply ask any competent genetic engineering professional....

When humans engineer genomes, the results do not fit the nested hierarchy of common descent. What theory of ID explains why the nested hierarchy exists, when the only engineers that we can actually observe routinely disregard the nesting?

YUP.

Been that way for decades.

At least—some say 100’s of years.

You can't tell me? Or are you implying that we are God?

I'm merely pointing out to you that genetic engineering is an explicitly verifiable example of "Intelligent Design."

I'll leave it to you to wedge that (apparently inconvenient) fact into your worldview.

That's just you moving the goalposts. It used to be that "ID is not a valid hypothesis." Well, it's obviously a valid hypothesis now ... so apparently you've begun insisting that the ID hypothesis be applied to a coherent and complete description of everything. That's scientifically unneccesary, of course ... but ideologically it makes a great deal of sense.

A non-ideologue on the topic would insist on nothing of the sort.

Nothing new. Just more of the usual nonsense. I don't know if I have time for another one of these today.
