Analyst on FOX says the Presidents words are stunning, indicating he has fresh intelligence that things are moving much more quickly. So it appears.

Did you notice that the President made a slip of the tongue when he said that the goal of the Russians could be regime change in RUSSIA!) That may not be a slip of the tongue if he is pointing out how the prime minister (ie Puten) may be pulling the strings in this over the President of Russia. He may be trying to trigger or hinting at an internal Russian solution.

Whats he saying. Cant get the streaming here.
It was a short statement.
(Trying to find an online transcript)
FoxNews was in commercial and missed most of it. Then, they went to regular programming directly after.
CNN is doing commentary/analysis.

Damn straight more is going on. They want the only pipe line (with exception of Turkey) in that region.
The Georgia pipe line supplies all the Balkan countries with fuel.
...and need I remind everyone winter is just around the corner.

Indeed.
I'm fearing a reprise of what happened to the good people of Hungary in the 1950s.
We need to stomp Putin (and his Soviet goals) into a senseless, sticky puddle.

I would add that I am stunned too. Something is amiss and memories of growing up flashed in my brain.

The Pres used the words "Russia must" more than once - diplomatic speak for "Russia had better do what we ask". That is very tough talk.

Pathetic. Seing that I altered (some of) my afternoon schedule to watch Bush’s statement live, and got Geraldine Ferraro instead, I’m back to CNN during times of crisis. FOX can stick it.

when he said that the goal of the Russians could be regime change in RUSSIA!) Strategic pipeline access between the Black Sea and Indian Ocean. Afghanistan has always had a strategic position in the region, even if it is just dirt.
To: sandyeggo
FOX blew it again. But ABC, NBC and CBS opted to not broadcast it at all.

Georgia had the third largest contingent of soldiers in Iraq. Well, until the USAF flew them back this past weekend. Yes, they came to help when most of Europe would not. They are friends.

“What was the USSR after in Afganistan??? Dirt, Mountains??”
Irrespective of what you think/thought of president George H. W. Bush, he said during the campaign he lost for reelection that the world was actually in a somewhat more delicate state after the collapse of the USSR, and that it was a crucial time for the right leadership. The country wasn't listening, and we got Clinton. So much of what we're dealing with now is a consequence of what happened during the 90s.
