Re: “There was a thread earier today that mentioned carter going there. It was listed under humor”
Thank you! This “crisis” is pretty upsetting and I didn’t read far enough into it to realize the Carter deal was meant to be humorous. It is humorous, I’m just not in a laughing mood.

I can’t sign on to that observation. It’s an interesting theory, but I don’t think it’s close to the truth. Sorry.

“Putin’s a two-bit thug.”
We should hire a Chechnyan to assasinate him. He is a punk. For all of the lamenting about McCain, I take solace in this statement by McCain, “When I looked into the eyes of Putin, I saw three things...K...G...B”

This is a Soviet military Map of the Tblisi area. If the Russians have forced the two river passes to the Northeast of the city, this is already over.....

Are you sure? Dang, that's within the combat radius of our aircraft even without a tanker.
If we used B2's or F22's, we'd have the benefit of plausible deniability. We could even attack Russian units from the rear by coming in over Russian airspace.

I hope the president says we will be sending in relief agencies to protect the civilians.

BREAKING: Jimma Carter will be went by the U.N. as a special envly to negotiate the surrender of Georgia by the Georgians. And to condemn the atrocities committed by the Georgians and the Israelis in the Georgia-Russia conflict.
To: MarMema
This is an invasion and nothing less. The Georgians are kind and good people. The world will stand by and watch this happen? The Poles will come out soon to their aid. Where are the Ukrainians?
Col. Peters just commented on FoxNews that Russia must be 'backed down' or the Ukraine is next. Putin seems intent on 'reuniting' the old Empire.

That’s a thought. I would literally have to be there to appreciate what is happening from all sides. I have no idea what Putin’s motivation might be, and like others on this thread, I remember the bad old days too vividly, so it colors my assessment of his character. He could be a great fellow and swell dancer, but my childhood makes me suspect he has two left feet and an incredible inner rage. That’s what I see when I look into his eyes.

He's not in China...he will be speaking in a few minutes from the White House.
We need to help the Georgian people and I hope he will anounce that we are somehow going to do that.
Putin is a thug and a KGB old hat...and it is finally showing in spades. To his credit, McCain recognized it and voiced it.

I saw that, he was GREAT, I hope the Russian apologists here on FR were able to be educated.
He said you don't move that many troops that fast. The Russians planned this quite some time ago.
