Obama running in violation of US election law

Barack Obama is not legally a US natural-born citizen according to the law on the books at the time of his birth; a law that was in effect between December 24, 1952 and November 13, 1986, when the law was changed.

However, the new law did not preempt the former law in the cases of those born between the above listed dates when the old law was in effect.

Therefore, Senator Obama may very well be disqualified....

Barack Obama’s father was not a US citizen, and Obama’s mother was only 18 when he was born, which means although she had been a US citizen for 10 years, his mother fails the test for being so for at least 5 years prior to Barack Obama’s birth.

In order for her child to have been a natural-born US citizen, his mother would have had to be 21 at the time of his birth....

It was just mentioned to me that there is also some question as to whether Hussein’s parents were actually married legally at the time of his birth. Daddy already had a living wife or two that he did not divorce. If they were not legally married I don’t know what that would do to the question of citizenship if born outside of the US. Would it not be interesting if Hussein were reduced to having to prove that his parents were not married?

It’s the author who doesn’t read the entire law. Obama was born in the United sates of America; it makes no difference what the nationality of his parents was.

It all only matters if there are legal challenges to Hussein being on the ballot in the individual states. I don’t see that happening yet.

That was my question initially, in fact. I rather doubted that they ever did actually marry. If that's the case, he has lied his head off about it. Really, the whole thing is a horrid mess.

Hawaii has been a state since 1959. Obama was born in 1962.

I’m wondering if anyone read the other article at CFP. There was an article about Westboro Baptist being turned away at the border because they were threatening to boycott the funeral of the young man who was beheaded on the bus (the Westboro people issued a statement saying that the man lived a despicable lifestyle).

Then there was the article about PETA re-issuing the Jeffrey Dahlmer ad, comparing beheading a person to slaughtering cattle for food, in Canada. I think that this report needs to be spread far and wide because it will go a long way to marginalizing the the PETA freaks in this country.

What you are missing is the words in the law (which was in the full article). Here they are:

“If only one parent was a US citizen at the time of your birth, that parent must have resided in the United States for at least ten years, at least five of which had to be after the age of 16.”

It is not possible for anyone age 19 (Obama-mama's age when she gave birth to the Messiah) to have resided in the USA for five years after age 16.

The law appears to have been explicitly written to prevent teen preganancy abroad to result in US citizenship.

Probably it was written to protect young GIs. A child born from the union of a young soldier and a Korean hooker, circa 1955, would not result in a child who was a US citizen and could "follow daddy home". The father would fail the "five years after age 16 test" regardless of when he joined until age 21. At 21 he might likely still fail it due to years in country.

Again, morals were different in the 1950s and law makers had a more realistic views of the temptations affecting soldiers, and took steps they felt were appropriate to prevent discomfort to those at home.

People keep insisting that "if his mom was American, so is he", but they are incorrect.

If in fact he was NOT born on US Soil not only is he not a "Natural Born American" he is not American AT ALL. He is not eligible to continue as a Senator and should, by rights, be deported. That is because there are exactly TWO types of citizens: "Natural Born" and "Naturalized". If he is not Natural Born then he would need to be Naturalized to be a citizen. As he has not been Naturalized (that is never went through the process of applying to be a US citizen, and then taking an oath, etc. as far as we know) he is simply NOT A CITIZEN.

The accusation is that he was NOT born on US Soil, that he was born in Kenya. The claim is that the reason he can’t produce a birth certificate is because there ISN’T ONE, because he was not born in Hawaii, as he claims.

But, hey it’s just a wild, unsubstantiated rumor. Like Clinton screwing his intern, or the Gov. of NY getting caught screwing a high priced hooker, or the leading VP candidate having a secret love child. I mean no REPUTABLE news sorce has covered this.

It’s not like the Birth Certificate that Obama put up on his web site to end the controversy is a forgery or anything.

Yes and also with no factual basis to conlude his eligibility, given the questions raised. That is (like John F. Kerry) he has completely refused to take the simple step of authorizing reporters to get copies of his birth certificate.

So our standards for POTUS election are being dumbed down from "present proof of eligibility" to "claim proof of eligibility and refuse to prove it".

Pretty cool trick. In most places you couldn't get away with that runnning for school board, mayor or State Rep. Even for those offices the registrar or secretary of state determines eligibility by verifying things like voting registration and home address.

The marraige or lack of marraige means nothing either way. His dad was not a citizen, so regardless of marital status he can provide nothing to Barry to help he be an American. That leaves only one route, given his moms age at the time: BIRTH ON AMERICAN SOIL.

Was he born on American soil? He says so. You believe him. I guess we are in this new liberal world where we all have to believe whatever any candidate says until ABC or NBC tells us they were lying. Until then questions, accusations, stupid cover stories, obvious lies and faked documents all have to be ignored.

The "Certificate of Live Birth" posted by KOS and "authorized" by the Obama Campaign -- has far too many indications of a forgery to be credible.

I am not impressed with this silly birth certificate business. There is absolutely no reason to think that Obama was born somewhere besides Hawaii, or that he was not born a US citizen.

If he is going to be stopped, he will have to be defeated on the issues. There is no point in distracting people with this kind of questionable, probably made-up eligibility BS.

I felt that way too until his response was to post a facsimile of his birth certificate on Kos and the Stop the Smears website. When this turned out to be a fake based on his sisters I suddenly felt like there was too much smoke there not to be a fire.

Now I could not agree that there is “absolutely no reason”. The reason is quite that he has used forged documents to debunk an easily debunked rumor.

Just as Kerry’s lying about his willingness to fully open his service records to public scruiteny told me that he was covering up events in Vietnam, I am now thinking that Obama has something to hide.

I do not consider the issue of his citizenship trivial. I am forced by the FedGov to follow laws on every aspect of my life. I am forced to report every dollar I make each year. I am forced to sign under threat of penalty that I am telling the truth. I am forced to contribute 1/2 my income to supporting the government.

Given all this I feel FULLY JUSTIFIED IN INSISTING THAT PERSONS WISHING TO RUN THIS GIANT MACHINE FULLY COMPLY WITH THE LAW, AND AFFIRMATIVELY PROVE THEY MEET THE MINIMUM LEGAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE JOB THEY ARE SEEKING.

This seems the essence of conservative thinking to me.

But, I can appreciate that this is something that reasonable people can disagee with. I do understand the “it’s a distraction” argument.

I got a seatbelt ticket. It can not possibly be the case that I can be fined for not wearing a seatbelt, but the wanna-be POTUS doesn’t have to even cough up the papers proving he is eligible to run?

We really do have two Americas. Serfs, who are expected to work, follow the rules, and will be swiftly punished for the most minor technical infraction, and MASTERS ala Edwards, Kerry, Obama, the Clintons who can lie, steal, denigrate people who point it out, lie more, create elaborate coverups, and get away with it all.

For once I’d just like to see the high and mighty follow the damned rules. I’d like to see the media do their jobs and actually follow up instead of covering up.

And I would like a groundswell of Conservatives to insist on one set of rules for us all, and a reasonable standard be applied to the high and mighty.

I paid my ticket. Obama can damned well provide his birth certificate to me, Free Republic, the AP and anyone else who wants PROOF of his citizenship.

Again, that is my opinion, but I do understand and respect yours.

This was a posting from Earlier this summer. This Houston Based group made this claim. I am sure their web site is cleaned of item now but I did add the picture and banner to my photobucket collection. You can't make this stuff up.
Why does this group claim that Obama is born in Kenya? Its very strange that they would make this claim. Are they being disrespectful of The Presidential candidate or our new Messiah?

Even assuming that the public hasn’t seen a real birth certificate, it would only matter if he was born outside of the U.S. Where else would he have been born? No one has said that he was born in a place other than Hawaii. Presumably people knew his parents around the time of his birth. If there was a story here, we would know by now. Obama is most likely not a changeling who was spirited into Hawaii from foreign parts unknown. Conservatives would do well to drop this and focus on other matters.
