Reposting from post #173:
From what I read on the other threads, the President can call them back, but it has to be for an agenda set by the Senate -controlled by democrats- for extraordinary circumstances.
Democrats dont see $4.00 gallon gas as much of an issue. I know his hands are tied on this, But President Bush could at least address it a bit more than he has been. Prehaps hes waiting for more momentum to build. Strategery, ya know.
Yes. It will be there at The Post at the same page.
“;) Our friend would not have given up. As a fellow Snowflake, it would be great to have your support.”
Amen, saveliberty, amen.
Late to the party today but so glad to be here.
(Just another Snowflake)
"My WHAT?"
"Minkey. Is that your Minkey?"
"My monkey?"
"That's what I SAID."
LOL!!! Minkey bimp!
Joe Barton will be there tomorrow
Michael Burgess was one of the original 50 (is there now)
Mike Conaway Returned to Washington
John Culberson one of the original 50 (is there now)
Chet Edwards (D) - A man answered the phone and tried to redirect me to a different congressman. I told him that if Mr. Edwards really supported military families, he's get his butt back to Washington and work with the Republicans to bring these gas prices down.
Charlie Gonzalez (D) - left same message with an aid. At least this one didn't sound surprised or scared.
Al Green (D)
Ralph Hall - voted with the party, but not there right now. I told her to tell *him* to get back to work. Again, she sounded scared. (I have the feeling that butts are getting chewed.)
Rubén Hinojosa (D) - I'm not calling any more dems. I'm just getting myself p*ssed off.
Eddie Bernice Johnson (D)
Nick Lampson (D) - a dem who supports domestic drilling so I gave him a call. Very nice young man answered who told me emphatically that Mr. Lampson supported the Republicans on this issue and would continue to do so. I told him Mr. Lampson was a man of honor and that, as a republican, I appreciated this man in congress. Good call to a dem! Imagine that! lol!
Michael McCall - On his way back to Washington tonight.
Solomon Ortiz (D)
Ted Poe - Spoke all day on Friday, was one of the original 50. I told her to tell him to finish what he started and get back to work.
Ciro Rodriguez (D)
Kevin Brady - Was one of the original 50. Will be back on Monday to keep up the fight.
Lamar Smith - He was there, made some statements, has gone home. I told the guy that we really wanted the congressman to finish what he started. Guy took my name and location. Very friendly when he found out I was living in Texas.
John Carter - He's on the house floor
Henry Cuellar (D)
Lloyd Doggett (D)
Louie Gohmert - He's there. His receptionist is glowing. Kay Granger - He said that she was there yesterday and a few of them are alternating to give each other breaks. She's not there today, but is in town and will be back.
Sheila Jackson Lee (D)
Jeb Hensarling - He's proudly standing on the floor with his fellow party members.
Gene Green (D)
Sam Johnson - can't be there but fully supports the cause. Was one of the ones who fought to keep congress open before all this happened. (I told his aid that he needed to at least have a press conference to let the public know what's going on. The press coverage has be dismal. The aid agreed with me.)
Mac Thornberry - He's been there all week Pete Sessions - He's there. Speaking tomorrow.
Silvestre Reyes (D)
Ron Paul - He's in Texas and has no plans to return. She was a little uptight.
Randy Neugebauer - Not there but will get back as soon as he can (I got the impression that this meant September.)
Kenny Marchant - He's not there, but he plans to return later in the month. This was, by far, the most interesting call yet. The republicans are rotating shifts to keep this up FOR THE ENTIRE MONTH! THAT is why some of the reps are holding out. They're scheduled to come in later. The "tantrum" is going to be a long one!!

Where's the beef?!
“;) But of course as conservatives, we respect private property and would not do such a thing without the consent of the owners.”
My immediate reaction to that was “Speak for yourself, John Alden!” (my brain works in mysterious ways :)
I’d be too chicken to do it myself.
Yeah, they’ll be coming out of the woodwork over the next few days.
The House is in recess. That is why the Republicans can take the floor each day like they are doing.
Well OK, then! Pressure on the White House!
(A small part of me hopes we loose. I really think this is the issue which pisses Americans off enough to give it all back to us.)
Maybe they'll obey the new scripture and over inflate the bus tires and have blow outs...
Just turned on C-span at 2:23 and President Bush is speaking live! Again?
Great job, Marie! You’ve got Texas covered!
I’m just so happy to hear that, Ed. LOL
My point is - W called for it several years ago, and everyone was making fun of him. Now we need what he was calling for. I agree that it should not be up to the government, but he did see the need in 2003. I have heard nothing about it from anyone.
I hope he mentions this at some point.
This is the way it was taught to me back in 8th grade and senior civics classes back in the 1950s, I realize we don't teach government any more because the communists are afraid we will learn how our government is supposed to work, and I could be wrong, but I don't think so. Maybe I will do a search and find the relevant article. Didn't mean to upset you and I certainly didn't mean to imply you were lying or making things up.
It says live, but that is what he was saying earlier.
I love that graphic!
