I didn't say you made anything up, but the way I read the constitution, the President is the one who holds the power to adjourn if a special session is called, I also read it to say that he doesn't need the Speaker's consent to do so, otherwise why give him the power to call a special session, if he had to ask permission it wouldn't be "calling" a special session it would be asking the speaker to call one.

This is the way it was taught to me back in 8th grade and senior civics classes back in the 1950s, I realize we don't teach government any more because the communists are afraid we will learn how our government is supposed to work, and I could be wrong, but I don't think so. Maybe I will do a search and find the relevant article. Didn't mean to upset you and I certainly didn't mean to imply you were lying or making things up.

Below is the section of the article dealing with Presidential powers and convening house and senate. Hope this helps, it says nothing about having to ask the speaker permission.

Section 3. He shall from time to time give to the Congress information of the state of the union, and recommend to their consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient; he may, on extraordinary occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in case of disagreement between them, with respect to the time of adjournment, he may adjourn them to such time as he shall think proper;
