Hey e,

Three videos I found so far:

http://qik.com/video/147257 - Congressman John Carter of Texas explains the reasons why Speaker Nancy Pelosi has left House Republicans no choice but to filibuster to protest her refusal to allow a floor vote on a bill to drill here and drill now in America.

It’s where it belongs. The Dems can yell this is Bush’s fault all they like. THEY’VE blocked drilling bills since ‘95.

O my goodness! I would love to see Obama next to this guy!
Better yet, challenge him to a debate on oil! It would not be a pretty sight!

Just starting at #1 after checking Pings—going to take me a long time. Guess I’d better start at the end and work back! :)

Yeah, the president can call Congress for a special session. But then Pelosi can just use the gavel and adjourn immediately. She has too much power.

She either has to compromise, or the Dems continue to lose public approval. Too late to sweep this under the carpet - it won’t go away.

It would be amusing if a special session were called and Pelosi used the gavel to adjourn - get that on tape for a commercial and the Dems lose big. They can’t win as long as they are against the majority of the people, and the story continues in some form in the media.

Question submitted to Speaker Pelosi at the Washington Post online chat.

Will the text of this online chat be available for us to read this evening (after I get home from picking up kids from VBS camp)?

Can't they use stall tactic and avoid a vote even if the President calls them back?

You can lead them to the building, you can't make them work.

Yeah, the president can call Congress for a special session. But then Pelosi can just use the gavel and adjourn immediately. She has too much power.

Please read the constitution, Pelosi cannot, cannot adjourn if the President calls a special session, the President is the only one who can decide to adjourn if he calls a special session.

If the president can call a special session and is the only one who can adjourn it why doesn’t he call it?

Hmm, OK. I’ll read the Constitution, but are you sure you’re right?

I was just reporting what was explained by our own Republican heroes yesterday from the House on C-Span... that Pelosi can gavel a special session. I certainly didn’t make that up.
